Have you ever lied about being sick to stay home from work?

I am sure many people have, but have you ever decided you didn't want to come in, so you called/emailed in that you are sick and won't be coming in?

Of course.

Nothing wrong with taking an un-scheduled "Mental Health Day."

I've called in sick to go to another job interview, but I've never called in sick "just cause".

Just this last Monday. I was too lazy to go after seeing a late showing of Batman on Sunday.

Yes, just a couple weeks ago actually. I absolutely hate my job and I just couldn't do it that day.

I'm a good worker. I will never call in sick unless I'm physically sick and can prove it with a doctor's notice.

I'd rather keep myself to a higher standard and be honest, so no. If I call in sick it is because I'm really sick, and even then if I'm able to I'll do some work from home to keep from entirely wasting a day.

Current job, never. Previous job where I had accrued vacation and sick leave, yes.

Took half a sick day, really sick though, puking my guts out.

Yes to your question though.

I'm going to say no. I have called out sick once when I had a full body sunburn and I felt guilty because I COULD really honestly have gone to work and made it out alive. I was just feeling kinda shitty and decided to take a day.

Just last week I told my boss I gotta cut out for a bit. My girlfriend tried to break up a dog fight and she got hurt pretty bad. I mean, that's they way she is. She sees trouble and she wants to help out and I guess one of these dogs clamped its jaws on her forearm. It wouldn't let go until the fireman showed up and had to stick his finger in his ass.

Of course. Any reasonable employer is going to understand that an unproductive worker isn't good to have around the office. If I'm not going to be productive because something else is occupying my attention, why pay me to come in and do nothing? Better I take one of my limited sick days, which the employer is already paying me for, and take the time to get my head right.

I never feel guilty for taking a sick day for that. I feel guilty when I use a sick day because I've over-indulged the night before and am fighting off a hangover. That's a stupid reason to use a sick day since it belies a lack of personal responsibility.

I never have. I tell people that I'd rather take the high road and not abuse the sick leave policy, but in reality I'm just a terrible liar. I'd be so busted if I ever lied about being sick to my employer.

Yes I have. 2 times in 8 years, and both were because I was hung over. Both times have been in the last year, and it is due to exhaustion really... My last vacation was December of 2009 and I work about 60-65 hours a week. I am 25 having my first child in October, and I have just been overwhelmed... drinking a bit too much out with co-workers letting loose before I cant anymore I guess lol....

Yes. But only once, just to play World of Warcraft. I know I was just lazy that time and didn't feel like going to work. :sneaky:

This is ATOT... everytime there is a new toy or new game, most of us have called in sick when we really are not on a product launch date... sometimes I do it so I get an extra day in Vegas! :awe:
