Hmm. Depends on how you define "met" and "celebrity". I actually spoke to Vince McMahon briefly when the "WWF/WWE" was going public at a company I used to work at. A few years earlier than that, I also got to shake hands with Bruce, Arnold & Stallone when Planet Hollywood went public (working at the same company). Shook hands and exchanged brief niceties with Rudy Giuliani at a steakhouse a few months after 9/11. My kid played with Chris Meloni's kid (L&O: SVU) at a Starbuck's while he and his wife were sitting at a table nearby. Ran into Jerry Orbach on line at the movies quite a while back (he was going to see the original "Shall We Dance? with some friends). Was having brunch or lunch (?) with my old roommate and we ran into Marisa Tomei jogging (we waved and got a smile for our troubles ). There have been a more (I live in NYC after all) but those are either the most recent or the ones that stuck in my memory.

Oh one more - got to sing with Harry Belafonte at my college graduation, but then again so did the whole graduating class. He was getting an honorary degree and led us in a rousing rendition of the "Banana Boat" Song.

EDIT: Spelling. Also met quite a few of the Mets team a few years ago on a trip to Montreal. They were staying at the same hotel (Sheraton? Don't remember). Unfortunately, I'm a Yankee fan and didn't recognize half of them. Kept running into them in the elevators and at the hotel bar. Only remember Franco and Todd Hundley. There were also a couple of relievers that I actually talked to a bit in the elevators. Don't remember their names but they were nice guys, even after i told them I was a Yankee fan. I thought Franco was kind of an ass though. Not at all friendly. Maybe because of the Yankee thing?

I met the entire '98-'99 NY/NJ MetroStars team that included Alexi Lalas, Tab Ramos and Tony Meola while attending their soccer clinic.

Oh yeah, I have a mini soccer ball with entire players signed on it.

Brad Pitt was filming "A Devils Own" with Harrison Ford (did not see Ford) uptown in Manhattan. Sidney Lumet, Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn were filming "The Interpreter" downtown while I had a meeting. Guess who walks out of her apartment to watch the whole deal - Parker Posey. I used to work for Lloyd Kaufman at Troma Films... I met Matt Pinfield outside of a popular bar in the city - HiFi. I was like "you're Matt Pinfield!" and starting getting gitty since I was drunk. I bought him a drink, we hugged, I got an autographed business card... He's a very cool guy. I met Ruben Studdard outside of the Roseland ballroom in manhattan... I saw Duran Duran at the Carson Daly show and he was being a friendly guy shaking hands and such.

I also forgot the most geekiest of my meetings - I spoke to (briefly) Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Christopher Lee and Howard Shore and shook their hands at a signing at B&N while they were promoting the two towers. I also recently saw a screening of "Collateral" with the director of the movie, Michael Mann, sitting two rows in front of me (and giving a Q&A afterwards)... I joked to a friend about meeting him and saying "You're the man... Michael Mann... Mr. Mann, you surely are the man" - when I didn't know it was him... He didn't hear me but a close friend of his giggled...
