Sorry to post in my own thread again, ha ha , but how have the videos been downloading for you all? Fast, slow?

The vids are at my ISP, Road Runner, in MN. They haven't sent me a "You're over the bandwidth allocation" message yet, but if you like the vids, save them, because I won't be keeping them here forever.

if anyone has 2 camcorders, shoot another lightbulb or similar setting 1 cam @ ~9f (close iris) and zoom and keep the other one normal.

Not spectacular, but weird: an almost-used-up bar of soap in the microwave.
(btw, perfumed soap will stink. Ivory works best). Takes ~7-15 seconds


Warning: this may kill a microwave.

(I just put a half glass of water in the corner of the nuker to avoid problems)

(Also, if a CD, it looks best if the nuker light doesn't work or the bulb has been removed. About 7 or 8 seconds)

MATERIALS:
Grapes, seedless, The color doesn't matter i don't think
Knife
Plate
Microwave

STEPS:
1. Take the grape and slice it in half almost all the way, leave the grape barely intact being held together by the skin.
2. Place the grape on a plate, try the cut side facing up and facing down, it works twice as good a certain way (i did this a long time ago).
3. Put the plate in the micrwave, start the microwave, i THINK it took about 3 secs for the fireworks/plasma/lightning show to start, so set it for 5 secs and no more than 10.
4. Rinse and repeat.


Why I think this happens. one hemisphere gets a + charge and the other a - charge and what we are seeing is arc going thru the grape skin.

I did it MANY times in my microwave and it still works fine, it isn't as big as the match, but you could argue it looks cooler.

This will put black burnt marks on your plate, DON'T PUT THE GRAPE ON ANYTHING FLAMABLE, LIKE A PAPER TOWL!!!!

When I was young, I tried playing god once. I put a grasshopper in a plastic bag, then put the bag in the freezer for a few hours. After that, my intentions were to "bring it back to life" by "warming it up" in the microwave.

Welcome to AT, DuffMan. (We had a member named ?DuffManOhYeah? here, but I haven?t seen him in a while.)

It's a sad shame I don't like grapes, but I will definitely have to try that some time soon .

You may have noticed from the thread that I'm using a 22 year old microwave oven, so I don't care if I break it, but to be honest, I've never seen a nuker fail just from being run empty or because a few sparks fly inside. (Side question, has anyone who is reading this seen one fail? Please do post if you have, I?m very curious.)

I have a feeling that microwave ovens are a lot more robust than most people think. The biggest problem is probably just charring of the walls and ceiling of the interior, and possible breaking of the glass tray/turntable from being very unevenly heated.

I?ll leave the videos for a little while yet, unless I get harassed by my ISP (sorry if they're slow to DL, it's the best place I have for them.) Enjoy.

My ISP has not sent me a message about high usage yet, so unless they're unbearably slow for almost everyone, I won't be requiring alternate hosting. I certainly appreciate the offer, however. I'll PM you if I think I need your help.
