Have you ever told a 'racist' joke in front of the race it 'offends'?

I sang along to a song on the radio that included the word "awesome dude" in front of a black friend. Everything got very awkward. She left immediately, practically in tears. She hasn't talked to me since.

Everybody was singing along to it and it was fine until I joined in (I was the only white guy there, the rest were a mix of Asian, Indian, Hispanic, and the one black girl). Her reaction is ridiculous, but its what happened. She's actually a friend of my girlfriend and its actually caused a ton of tension and woman-drama.

That's stupid as fuck. Really, wow. (I'm referring to her reaction, not you obviously)

It's disappointing. I grew up thinking the world was equal and expecting everyone to be smart and tolerant, but now I constantly question whether or not people are constantly disparaging my ethnicity (not me personally, but Blacks in general) behind my back.

Comments? were talking about race jokes here. for starters there are jokes,stereotypes..etc about every ethnicity. Second, in this particular case, its a joke, have a sense of humor, look into the mirror and laugh once in a while.
Third, stop expecting anything out of people. Fourth, don't think for a minute that even us whites don't get disparaged by blacks and other races as well. All races are guilty. last weekend i had an asian guy call me "popcorn f**er"..i laughed casue i never heard that one, but he seemed quite intent on trying to get to me.

You want the world to be equal, but you don't want people to talk about your race in front of you? Do you expect people to treat you differently because of your race?

Come on man. Every single race out there has issues. Want me to rip on white people for a couple hours? Because I can very easily. Or would you prefer some Amish jokes? How about we talk about people from Michigan? Cause damn....there is a whole trove of jokes there.

the other day at Home Depot one of the black female employee was carrying a microwave for a customer. on the box, in big letters, it said Color: Negro. i wonder if she was offended?

There are all kind of stereotypes out there, not only about blacks, but whites, Jews, French, German etc... What makes black stereotypes so special?

Some jokes are funny because there is an underlying truth in all stereotypes. I have rarely seen people cracking racial jokes in a malicious manner, but rather a tease. Frankly, if you get offended by them, then the joke is on you unless you start growing a thicker skin.
