Have you ever used a fake ID?

I got one when I was like 19, I think out of maybe 30-50 potential checks of the ID I got checked once maybe twice before turning 21

Way back in the day... my high school issued picture ID cards w/o birth dates. So I typed one in. Worked great but the drinking age was 18 then so lots of high schoolers were of legal age.

Almost as important as the quality of the fake is how you use it. If you use it thinking "I am 21" and are very confident that will help you pass even a POS fake. If you are nervous and shaking when you use it, it doesn't matter if you have a Hawaiian birth certificate people will turn you away.

I used one from 18 to 21. It was pretty easy as long as you remembered the information and remained confident and calm. I always looked at it as almost a right of passage. I HAD to do it until I was 21! Never got checked at the bars I went to and was only grilled a few times at liquor stores but always got what I needed.

I don't know how much it mattered but I always went to immigrant run liquor stores or hole in the wall bars. I figured they'd care less.

My friend found a real ID that the guy was 24 on it and since he was asian he gave it to me. I used it for about 3 years, even though it was expired about 6 months after I got it and it worked for me everywhere. Liquor stores, groceries and restaurants aren't that strict on checking IDs if you look older. There have been times where I've gotten my ID ready and they ended up not checking me at all. Nightclubs are a different story. I used this ID at many nightclubs before but one night, this one club up in Long Beach were double and triple checking people. I got pass the first two checks but the last one the guy got me. They don't call the cops or anything, they just take it and tell you to leave.

Of course, but at that time in Ohio (late 60's), they were paper with no picture.

Anyone could mimeograph the blanks and fill it in with a typewriter.

Some of 'um were really ugly but behind scratched wallet plastic were passable....but once you were asked to remove it, all bets were off. :laugh:

A fake ID won't prevent you from getting busted by the cops at a house party anyway so what's the point? Just do yourself a favor and enjoy the money you'll be saving by not going to the bar, you'll have plenty of time to hemmorhage cash there when you turn 21 .

don't bother with a fake ID, it's normally a $300-400 fine if you get caught. If you live in an area with a good college campus then just go to house parties and get drunk with a lot of people your own age for much cheaper.

No but I've had people accuse me of carrying a fake driver license because it was a CA D/L with a NY address. Apparently most people don't know that CA DMV allows out-of-state mailing addresses.
