I guess it's because if i spent the money, i don't like the idea of leaving.

If you walk out early enough, you can get your money back.

EDIT: I seem to recall some people actually getting there money back after a movie because they complained so much, but I would guess that is the exception.

Walked out on "Black Christmas" and "The Polar Express." I fell asleep during "Braveheart." I tried to watch it again, but it is just such a fucking boring movie.

Wow, some of you guys have walked out on some amazing movies. No accounting for taste, I guess.

Personally I've never left a theater but I stop Netflix movies if they don't grab me in the first 20 minutes. Black Hawk Down springs to mind. That movie was shit.

Wow, I wouldn't have gone to that movie even if someone had paid me.

And BTW the only movie I've ever walked out of was The Protector with Tony Jaa. I saw Ong Bak and it was awesome. Then I saw the first half of The Protector (the one where he goes after his elephant after it was kidnapped) and it was so bad I couldn't stand it. Even the fight scenes in the first half were really bad. Unfortunately, I later learned that the fight scenes in the second half were actually very good. But it was a unanimous decision.

I have stopped "Hot Rod" and "We Were Soldiers" prematurely while watching at home, though.

I walked out of Jeepers Creepers many years ago. The only thing I was remotely interested in was that dude's sister but even that didn't last for long.

No, I paid good money for it so I'm not leaving. If you feel like it sucks so bad that you want your money back, give me a break, you chose the movie cause you thought it'd be worth watching. If it was that bad, there are multiple ways to "right" this perceived injustice before leaving.

I almost fell asleep during the 3rd hour of 'Che' yesterday, but reminded myself that I paid $18.

I don't normally walk out of movies - even if a movie has a slow start, or outright sucks at the beginning, I usually stay / keep watching anyway in case it gets interesting later on. The one movie in a theater that I did walk out on was The Phantom. But, I only walked out because I was with friends who wanted to leave early.

The one movie that I can remember that I actually shut off after the first 1/2 hour was Soul Plane. OMG, so awful.

no, but i have stopped watching one i rented from Netflix and sent it back without finishing it. Some bad movies out there.

Let me guess, was it:

Dances with Wolves

Three Men and a Baby

Dirty Dancing

or

Ghost?

I couldnt watch any of those movies either, even though everybody and their dog saw them back in the 80s/90s.

none of those. there have been a few but i can't remember which.

I stopped watching Andrei Rublev.

Holy fucking christ--that's a tough one to stomach...even for me.

as for in the theater, I don't think I've ever walked out. I sat through Revenge of the Nerds 4, and thought it was the greatest movie ever at the time (I was...8?).

That should speak something for my patience...and what kind of specific mood one must be in to tolerate a flick like Rublev. Holy crap.

Now that I think about it, I did stop "Breakfast on Pluto," with maybe only 10 minutes left in the flick. I just couldn't take any more of it. The GF gave up an hour before and went to sleep. Sucks, b/c Neal Jordan is one of my favorite directors, and i was terribly disappointed. i had kept meaning to see that in the theater, but never got around to it. Now glad I missed it...

I found "We Were Soldiers" difficult to finish. The cheese > plot with this one.

Man of the year with Robin Williams I stayed through the entire movie when I should have left half way through it.

I didn't walk out because I didn't h ave a choice since I went with gf. I slept after 2.5hrs of watching, believe it or not, Harry Potter (the 1st movie, don't remember the title) & Titanic. It's a damn long movie. It took me 4 times to completely watch the Titanic (later at home).

Thank you. If I had corrected him it would have involved swearing.

Your sarcasm meter needs calibration.

OR........ he is talking about all the long, boring parts in between battles, in which case I totally understand.
Crap, that means my sarcasm meter needs calibration.

I used to work in a theater so we could get to see movies prior to release. Out of all of the movies I've ever watched... Godzilla (Broderick version) is the only one I ever walked out on. It was/is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I came to that conclusion well before I became a movie snob too.

Barton Fink.

And my roommate was with me; he insisted we go and get our money back. It's funny because he's in the film industry and usually loves those "off the wall" type of movies.

LOL - I bought that movie one day based on the reviews on the back of the DVD. Apparently, Wes Craven says it's the scariest movie he's ever seen.

It was my night for movie night - my friends have yet to forgive me.
