This year's flu vaccine left me with a fairly tender arm for 3 days. Got it back in October.Got the jab yesterday. Was surprisingly quick. And barely noticed the actual jab. Just hope the jabsmith jabbed the jab-stick correctly (I believe those are the correct technical terms?). Feel pretty unwell today, but it's very hard to tell the difference from how unwell I usually feel anyway. The leaflet said the arm pain would start on the second day, so far not particularly bad.
My left are was pretty darn sore after shot#1 Moderna, not much else happened and arm was ~OK after 2-3 days. Much less arm pain after shot#2, but had some fever + fatigue. Never felt what I'd call sick! Just under the weather. Now, after 4 days, I feel OK. Even after 3. I'm glad I had reactions, figure it means the shot was OK, did its job.BTW I am feeling a little bit shaky at this point... sorta like I'm coming down with something. Which I suppose is at least partially the case!
I doubt very much that your thinking about not getting vaccinated falls in that category. You're more at risk than you think from this, much more. I saw a lot of idealism during the 1960's. The assassinations of JFK, Robert Kennedy, MLK II, Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and the Vietnam War cast a giant shadow over that idealism, but hope wasn't vanquished. I don't ever remember having reactions to vaccinations before. I suppose I did some, but so mild I didn't make note of it. I've had lots of vaccinations, I'm anything but anti-vax. My dad was an M.D., used to bring home the latest flu vaccine and put in the refrigerator. He jabbed us all.
For so many people, their battle with covid-19 has been the worst sickness they've ever had, no contest. I've seen/heard the testimonials. And, of course, there are the ~550,000 Americans who have died from it. We're going to be hearing more about the long haulers.HOWEVER .... thank goodness I managed to get the shot before I caught Covid. (it was inevitable) Considering how I feel right now I can't imagine how awful the real thing could be!

You said it yourself, even the VAERS info doesn't demonstrate a causal relationship because that's not what VAERS is there for. You could get a vaccine and get struck by lightning on the way home and VAERS would report lightning strikes as a side effect if the vaccine.
Anti-vaxxers love to use VAERS as proof of everything when it in fact provides proof of nothing.

I've definitely had worse, but I am absolutely not well. I was expecting +12-36 hours to suck so hopefully I'm only 12 hours or so away from being done.
