This is retarded. There are very clear 'right' and 'holy shit, you talk like a fucking moron' answers. I don't see this as a test of dialect as much as a test of 'English, motherfucker, do you speak it?'

Our top three guesses for your English dialect:
1. American (Standard)
2. Canadian
3. Singaporean

Our top three guesses for your native (first) language:
1. English
2. Norwegian
3. Swedish

A lot of native English speakers got Ebonics as a result, so some of the answers may not be so obvious.

And yeah, it is intended to guess whose first language isn't English.

So many people got Ebonics as their primary guess. They must be your/you're deniers.
"Ebonics" might just be Twitter dialect in this case.

It correctly came up with English/English for me. Most of the questions very obviously differentiated between English-English and US-English.

Sounds as if it also picks up Canadian and other forms of first-language-English (though none of the examples had 'eh' on the end of the sentence, which is all the internet has taught me about identifying Canadians)

Maybe its either that Black American English (for some reason I dislike the term 'Ebonics') has strongly influenced 'mainstream' US English (at least amongst the demographic here)... or they need to refine their test a bit more?

No, it's intended to guess whose English has been distorted and bastardised by pilgrims and rednecks who barely know how to read or write.

EDIT: I was also going to include black people, but that might be construed as being racist.

I think the reason on why ebonics is on a lot of people's results is that while some of the answers were blatant "She be trippin yo" etc, I am willing to bet ebonics tend to say "he is in the hospital" over "he is in hospital". Just a guess, but probably a few of the checked replies fit for American Standard, Canadian, AND Ebonics... BUT NOT European or other dialects.

Native language German, started learning English at 16 (?), moved to Illinois and lived there about 9 years, married US American wife (speaking English now 24/7)...now live in Spain.

Moving to the US showed me how insufficient "school English" really is..I remember when I turned on the TV and saw "Black Entertainment TV" the first time...LOL

English is just a bastardization of the Latin master race language.

No, I'm pretty sure it's just Facebookers who barely speak their native language.

English is just a bastardization of the Latin master race language.

Latin is just a bastardisation of the Etruscan master race language.

Also, English has much more in common with other Germanic languages than with Romance languages and Latin.
