http://www.gameswithwords.org/WhichEnglish/

it tries to guess your accent and native tongue based on your grammatical proficiency at English.

Our top three guesses for your English dialect:
South African
American (Standard)
Canadian

Our top three guesses for your native (first) language:
English
Norwegian
Swedish

I was a bit surprised it thought I sounded (well, wrote - I guess) South African. I'm Danish so it got close.

edit: oh and it's a research project, not your average "quiz" scam.

And I was thinking context what if they were talking about a place to donate. So "it" could be proper.

I was in speech therapy at a young age due to hearing problems and was in special ED classes. So hence the Ebonics as third choice BS!

This is retarded. There are very clear 'right' and 'holy shit, you talk like a fucking moron' answers. I don't see this as a test of dialect as much as a test of 'English, motherfucker, do you speak it?'

This.

Although I will temper it a bit by saying I could see how some of the bizarre answers might work. For example, saying "He's been in hospital" is common in Eastern Europe. Some of the sentence constructions make sense as literal translations from other languages with much different grammatical constructions.

My native language isn't even in the Germanic group of languages, but I started learning English when I was 9, and I've been living in Canada for >10 years, so not too surprising. Somewhat strange that Canadian wasn't picked up.
Not sure what the deal with Singaporean is, I'm not Asian. Or Ebonics...
