When I graduated in highschool and had none of the 40 people I gave my number to ever contacted me, I realized I had to either take up drugs, random sex and partying or get new friends. Then I realized I should stop being a gentlemen to women because they never appreciate it. I couldn't stop being nice, though, my mom freakin' ingrained it into my DNA.

fight club helped me realize that I was placing too much importance on material things. I have since donated or ebayed a lot of stuff. I'm trying to become more nomadic.

I had one the other day. I realized that most of the members here are totally clueless when it comes to most everything in life.
I thought I could become a billionaire if I wrote a book about how to deal with girls, change oil in cars, set up stereos, p0rn, etc. Put a pic of Jessica Alba on the cover and the pimple farmers would fight over the book.
I'd release it on BF.

yep, no matter how much material crap you have, its the meaningful long-term relationships you create which are priceless. Who cares how much money you make or stuff you have if you have no one to share it with. As the old adage goes, the best things in life are free, yet a lot of society seems to care increasingly about materialistic and meaningless pursuits.

For me, it was realizing that it's worth a hell of a lot to have good friends. I mean real, true friends.

I had plenty of friends who I thought were good friends, and one day I realized about three of them were really good friends. The rest were fun to be around, but either lied, stole, were selfish, backstabbing, or had some other serious character flaw.

Now I have about a dozen real friends. People who I could give a key to my house to, and never worry about it for a second. People I could call in the middle of the night for any reason, and they would be there as fast as possible. I would do the same for them.

Personally, that's improved the quality of my life immensely.
