Great movie. I love the part where the crowd sings La Marsaillaise over the Germans singing Die Wacht am Rhein.

Among my favorite movies.

Rick & Ilsa are great characters.

Even for a guy, it's a well-textured, powerful romance flick, with really good dialogue & action: spirit of persistence & bravery vs. adversity.
Even has some comic undertones.

Recommended!

I watched it with my 16-yr-old son. I had to translate it for him - he's not up on the details of WW2. Didn't know about The Resistance, didn't know much about the Paris thing, didn't know why people were so desperate to leave.

Mainly, he was annoyed by all the smoking in the movie. These kids today. Other than than, he liked it.

I watched it for the first time last week (29 years old). I always thought it was a chore that I should do sometime in my life. But, I actually enjoyed it. I never knew it was a comedy (somewhat). I was very pleasantly surprised.
