Have you seen "Spirited Away"

Wow, this was a good movie. It did leave a lot of questions open though. I am definitely going to buy this one when it comes out on DVD...

Saw the Japanese version a few months back.

I thought it was a great movie. I only wish more anime would make it here.. usually so much better then the American made stuff.

I actually think the movie is overrated. It wasnt as good as people say it is. It had a very good premise, good setup, great characters, and a great story. Even with all that though, the imagination is a little over the boundary that the movie seemed to drag its pace towards the end where she *SPOILER* "walked to grandma and visits her and came back taking a test on picking the pigs." I truly think that 'climax' was very weak compared to the atmosphere of the overall setup that it had built up. This is actually a typical mistake that I see in lots of animes as well. But it was an above decent movie, I'd still give it a positive rating.

i saw the japanese version and thoroughly enjoyed it. i

ts not miyazaki's best, but its still a great movie.

I saw the Japanese version a couple of months back in Hong Kong. Though it was very good. You just have to let go of your imagination and not let logic take control. It's an anime afterall.

I could make a movie totally out of my imagination. It will be extremely imaginative that the things my characters do in my movie will make complete non-sense, but it'll be imaginative. I do not think that will be very good. Spirited Away does not that this concept to the extreme, but a doze of it was enough to make me think 'they could've done something better to explain that or to resolve that.'

I agree about the ending, it was kind of a let down. With all the "odd" things happening, an ending like that was unexpected...still enjoyed the movie though..now I just need to go to work even though I am soo tired...

It was a good movie. Not the best anime I've seen though. *SPOILER* When the guy tells the main character that he remembers his name during the freeball I almost cried (ok I am wuss)

To really appreciate the movie you have to be familiar with Japanese storytelling and mythology.

The movie showed influence from many, many fairy tales and myths in Japanese culture, and the ending is typical of how the stories wind up.

If you compare it to current standards in American storytelling where movies need to either a) end in a completely opposite direction than expected, or 2) have a huge, gala climax, then yes, you'll probably be disappointed. The Japanese are more fans of subtlety than anything else.

I prefer anime to American "Cartoons" though. Look what we have: Ed, edd, and eddy and other junk that isn't even stimulating your imagination or thought process. Most anime like this actually had a deeper meaning to it (I might be wrong) and you actually have to think about the movie instead of it being an endless slugfest.

Lol, yeah, I mentioned that to my friend when I was watching the movie. Man, this guy has an awesome imagination.

Also, I agree with the musical script being really good...it always changed at the right time
