Haven't Built a Rig In Two Years With You Guys But...

I need you guys to help me build a cheap rig for a workmate whose HP is dead. I'll be cannibalizing as much as I can from the old rig, but I need quality parts from quality manufacturers. Like I said before, I haven't built a rig in two years so I'm out of the loop. I need these parts:

--CPU and motherboard (integrated graphics if possible)
--Memory
--Cheap Video card these folks don't game (if all integrated graphics boards suck)
--Case with PSU

Don't go crazy. The name of the game is price/performance. This girl needs the computer and she doesn't want to spend a ton of cash. I don't want to give her crappy components though.

I know you probably don't want to hear this question, but want to have some parts listed first, but for a little help, what would be considered cheap for the total system? Anything <$500?

<$300. It's just a few components. I'll cannibalize the other parts.

Yeah, for <$300, buying a system from bestbuy or someplace else is your best bet.

If not, you most likely going to want to look for some good deals on used parts.

still need the os (yes ebay cheap) and the builder of almost all custom builds end being tech support unlike the hp/compaq/dell/acer/emachine/gateway/etc. x amt of support under the oem warranty...
