Guys I just got a abit kt7a raid mobo in the mail, had a kt7raid, the kt7a has faster fsb, well also can use athlonxp's, so i put an athlon xp 1500+ in it, with a g4f ti 4200 128mb with 768mb ram, 40gb hd, and well i reformated and installed win2kpro back on it, and updated everydrive, and it runs games like crap, either frezzes, reboots, or runs hella slow, can anyone point me in the right direction of how to fix this??

First, find a real generic agp or pci video card. Update to the latest bios, THEN reformat and reinstall.

If everything is fine, then try the 4200. If not then ??? I have that mobo, and it is fine, but I have problems with some nvidia cards.

where did you find the bios update to take it to an XP? the last time i had checked it out, you could only go to a 1.4Ghz t-bird.

from what i read up on that subject, it could get really iffy whether or not your computer would work properly afterwards.

The version of the board you are using is 1.3 or greater correct? I had a version 1.1 and heard that you could use an athlon xp in the boards even though that processor is technically not supported on versions 1.2 and lower. Before changing to the xp I had a 1 gig thunderbird in the board and it was very stable. After I installed the xp I had bad problems with instability. Now I have upgraded to a soyo kt400 with the same athlon xp processor and the system is just a stable as the old mobo with the old thunderbird. I have heard some third and fourth hand info that the kt7a v1.2 and below had stability problems with athlon xp's and my experiences seem to give some truth to that information. The version sticker should be somewhere along the pci slots toward the lower left of the board.
