Hi,
I have recently been experiencing a LOT of HDD problems on my system.
Symptoms:
During EVERY boot up, it goes to the "check disk screen" telling me I have errors. I let it perform a checkdisk (which takes about 6 hours, which tells me all is NOT right in the first place) and when I re-boot it goes back to the "check disk" screen again.
I have to cancel the "checkdisk" option to get to the desktop.
After the system is booted (which takes about 5 minutes total) I try and run the Norton disk doctor, but it freezes at the first stage.
All my programs take a long time to load. But once loaded seem to operate properly, just a lot slower than usual.
I have no odd sounds coming from the drive, nor any unusual heat issues in the case or drive itself.
This drive has a TON of crucial info and programs on this drive that cannot be replaced. I am thinking about ghosting it, but don't want to carry over some data issue to the new drive.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
