Having NTLDR Problem

Hi All,

I m using MSI RS 482 motherboard, and has 3 HDD[all segate 40gb(PATA) + 120gb(SATA) + 320 gb(PATA)] connected with the 40gb as the primary HDD with the OS.....ect

MY PROBLEM....
some time when I start my comp it give this message

NTLDR is missing
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

I know what is wrong...basically its not able to find the HDD with the OS.

I have no idea why my OS HDD sometime doesn't show up in the setup. To correct this i got to remove the all the hdd and then connect and check in the cmos setup if its being recognised by the motherboard. And if connect my DVD then also I will not be able to see my primary HDD.

Does any one know why this happens and has a permanent solution for this. I really hate opening my comp.

Make sure teh bios is set to use the 40gb drive as the boot drive otehrwise it will try to boot from the SATA drive. Make sure both your IDE drivers are configured correctly. The boot drive needs to be the primary drive with the other set to secondary. Also make sure the 40gb drive is on the end connector not the middle connector of the IDE ribbon cable. Check to make sure the HDDs are plug into the primary IDE connector and not the secondary. You also need to be using an 80 wire ribbon cable on the HDDs not a 40 wire cable.

Follow all this and you should be ok, and in addition, make sure none of the cables to your drives are loose. This includes the SATA cables, IDE ribbons, and power connectors.

first > when ever i get this error...i got to get into the bios setup and see if the 40gb hdd is being identified....if it not then i got disconnect the power cable and see if the other hdd are being identified.....then connect the hdd again and hope the 40gb hdd is being identified.[already doing]

second > boot drive is already set too primary[already doing]

third > 40gb hdd is on the end connector of IDE ribbon[already doing]

fourth > ok...now HOW do i know if I am using 40 or 80 wire ribbon cable
