Having problems? thats a stupid question right? It shouldnt be! Does anyone else think its absurd that we are ALL having so many problems? Why are we just sitting here. why arnt we demanding satisfaction? WHY ISNT ATI TAKING US SERIOUSLY? I say its time to take action. I propose that everyone here and everyone that we can get the word to, Email or call ATI and demand answers. We should all email their tech support and tell them our problems and find out what they intend to do about it. We should also email there webmaster and find out why they dont have a forum for us. and keep emailing them until we get what we want!!!

Please take the time right now to do this, it wont take long and it could really make a difference.

heres the link for the webmaster and tech support

Are you having problems with trolls? That's a stupid question right? Are people simply comming to your forums and making posts which are sure to incite flames? Does anyone else think it is absurd that these people just show up and waste bandwidth? Why are they still here? IT IS TIME TO TAKE action. I propose that everyone here and everyone that we can get the word to, Email or pm the anandtech moderator and demand answers. We should all contact the mods and tell them our problems and find out what they intend to do about it. and keep emailing them until we get what we want!!!

Please take the time right now to do this, it wont take long and it could really make a difference.

ok......people have problems with all hardware...not just ati. i'm pretty sure ati is trying, i mean what kind of company purposely wants to screw their buyers? i'm not saying their doing a great job, but you act like they're committing genocide or something. if they don't have a forum, go to a forum like AT, i'm almost sure there will always be people willing to help you....

ATI does need to start getting in touch with reality. I once saw a quote from the head guy there that said to the effect that the only reason ATI has a rep for bad drivers is because they have a very large and very vocal customer base.

what is so pathetic about wanting a company to support its product that we all payed a lot of money for. The only pathetic thing would be not to speak up and try to get things changed.

UHHHH.....my 8500 is the greatest 3D card I've ever owned. The performance, quality and detail are something I never imagined possible. Admittedly, if I max out every setting I will get occasional slowdowns and hangs in Q3 and Max Payne, but GEEEES. Nvidia was constantly improving the drivers for the GF3, too. It didn't run perfectly at first. Unless you just got a bad card, in which case you can just RMA it, just give it a rest.

I'm having no problems. The weird thing is, every 5th thread doesn't have a 8500 problem, when I look at the first page in this forum, I see your utterly stupid thread, and one person saying they really want a 8500 DV.

why do people have the attitude that if it dosent work, oh well, mabey thell get it right in the next patch/driver update? Its this attitude that allows companys like ATI ( and many others) to release products before there ready. We dont settle for this in other areas, we dont allow walmart, or our local car dealer to sell us products that have to be fixed and updated just so the will run at an ok level. When we buy something we expect it to work, as advertised. why do we let the computer industry get away with this, and not just ATI, almost all game developers do the same thing. MY whole point is that we should not have to settle for a sub-standard product until the latest drivers come out. I know i cant be the only one who feels this way

So far in this thread you are the only person claiming it doesn't work. Mine works fine and apparently it works great for the vast majority. If you're having a problem with your card, why don't you tell us all about it and maybe we can help. On the other hand, if all you want to do is troll and rant then let us know so we can join in the game.

i admit i am ranting a bit.......ok, a lot

but ive been checking and there are a lot of people having problems with this card. And while my post is mainly aimed at ATI the whole computer industry is guilty of releasing sub-standard products. This post wasn't ment to detail my problem with my card but to bring into light the much bigger problem of releasing products before they are ready.

but since you mentioned it

my problem is this....

i installed the card and it ran well for about 2 days. then a couple of mornings ago. i turned the computer on and it had all these pixel size green dots all over the screen in vertical collums. If i bring up a window and then close it agian the screen refreshes and the dots are gone for a while but they always come back. In games there are green and purple blotches all over everything and it gets worse with time.

oh yeah...you're the "i have green dots all over" guy....i knew that i saw you before already...

anyway....this does NOT look like a driver issue to me - AFAIK it looks like a hardware problem...overheating...or something with your ram is screwed up.

I dont know if you're the same guy like the one who said he 'modified' his card by putting on heatsinks or something...and THEN suddenly the dots appeared.

Looks like hardware related to me - maybe even a bad card...

do you overclock ?

did you put on heatsinks or another fan ?

If yes...then dont complain about the card in general or drivers.....

Is that why Ford is King of the recall?

Are you running the latest VIA 4 in 1 drivers (I believe this would apply)? Are you running the latest AMD AGP driver (I think this would apply)? Are you running the latest Radeon 8500 drivers from the ATI web site? Have you tried reseating the vid card and RAM? Have you checked your monitor cable connection and/or the monitor cable? What are your temps? What kind of power supply (I hear the 8KHA+ board is picky about power supplies)? Have you been using illegal drugs (just kidding, I think)? Finally, what FLEXY said above.

seriously how can you expect a product in the computer industry to run well?
Do people have an option in cars to choose anything they want? no they are told what they can and can't have. You can't cram just anything together and hope it works.

When any manufacturer comes out and brings the cheapest hardware out, or something completely different than everyone else, how is something supposed to be compatible with everything on the market.

Not to mention every idiot in the world who thinks they know everything there is about computers, then they build one and overlook a dozen simple things. Then they come here and bitch about it.

and yes, I'd admit that the rage3d 8500 tech support forum would have numerous issues with the 8500 in it, thats what it was made for.

When a motherboard has a bunch of issues, and a soundcard has some, then you buy a cheap modem, cd drive, and put a flakey MS OS on it, you have to expect problems.

Every system I've built has had not one issue, and thats because I build only with the best parts and if a customer says thats not in their budget, then I said they can dump another part and get it later.

Anyone know how to disable fast writes on a Tyan Tiger? I can't find the option in the BIOS. Is there a windows utility or win2k registry hack?
