I also posted this on the MB forums, but since not many people visit there, and it MAY not be MB related...i figured i'd post it here....
Alright, so i just got my intel Retail edge program bundle (c2d e6300, intel DG965WH mainboard, windows vista ultimate), and i just got it all installed...
but nothins kickin. heres what ive tried so far:
plug in MB, processor, one stick of mem, and PSU. PSU connected to 24 pin and 2x2 pin on the MB only. processor fan plugged into cpu fan 4 pin plug on mainboard.
Tried powering it up, with my antec NeoHE 500watt psu, the thing feels like its struggling a little bit. the fan powers up for a few seconds, then nothing. I tried reseating the entire MB, and that got it to boot, go to the bios screen....but then when i rebooted, it gave me no bootable disk (which is expected cause i dont have any drives in.) I rebooted again, and now it wont detect my keyboard (cant get into bios).
Whenever i plug in either a graphics card or a HDD or any sort of optical drive, the CPU fan starts spinning up and down (fast then slow then fast then slow)....like its struggling.
I just bought a new dynex (bby off brand) 400w PSU thinking MAYBE it could be the power supply (even though it worked about an hour ago on my old a64 3800+ x2...). on the dynex psu, nothing even turns on, machine is completely dead.
so now im thinking its a bad mainboard. Intel tech support is closed right now, so ill have to call them tomorrow. Im thinking about just hopping on newegg and getting an asus board or something and then maybe have this thing RMAed and resell it when i get a new one. any suggestions?
