We just had a wireless router installed at our shop.. primarily for customers that are waiting, but we can use the connection in the shop. I am a VW tech.. I want to get my laptop working so that I can access tech documents in my bay and not have to hike across the shop to the shop computers. In the past, I have always been able to get onto wireless networks without any issues.. networks in hotels, public places, and my secured home network. the shop's network is an unsecured network. my laptop will connect, but it won't ever acquire an IP address.. which as we know, that makes is rather useless, especially for web apps. My NIC is a microshaft 720 wireless PCMCIA card. this is the first network i have had trouble getting on, and I haven't changed any settings recently. is there something i can look at/change to make it get an IP? my boss got a new HP laptop wtih an internal wireless NIC, and i was able to get his to connect properly without any effort. the guy that works next to me has a mac laptop and he connects just fine. seems to be a problem on my laptop, but i don't know what is going on. any help will be appreciated!
