I don't get it. Why they put so much emphasis on "physX is nvidia only feature".
PhysX is software. It works only on certain type of hardware. That is bad thing you should try to hide, not something you should be proud of.
It is like if Crysis 3 would work only if you have MSI motherboard... C'mon.
As a side note: half of this shield, energy, healing particle effects don't need to be generated realtime. If those were pre-rendered, you could run it without any loss on frame rates (and on any hardware). Not everything has to be physx realtime effect.

There are 2 physx settings and off, AMD cards use the cpu. On the lower setting.

banned for having a differing opinions from yours.

Opinions cant be false either btw.

You would fit right in Nazi Germany. Maybe someone should look into your family tree.

Hey look who busted out a Nazi comment. LOL. Imagine that.

I'm not even going to take the time to dig up all your past posts with blatantly false information or outright lies. You're either the worst liar in this forum or the laziest poster who can't take 30 seconds to verify anything he says regarding factual statements. It's not your opinions that I care about, it's your abrasive posting style mixed in with propoganda-like statements, topped off with ignorant / lying information time and time again. You never have anything to say in a constructive manner and you constantly fill up your posts with misinformation.

Looks out of place, unless there is some narrative context behind the particle effects, like some sort of magic or techno babble energy or something...

You have a preconceived vision of what Mech plasma blasts and force shields look like on a alien world,

Since when sare forums know for their factorial accuracy. Take your posts for example. No value no purpose and over 3000 of them. Great.

Some of those things could be done in basic, scripted, terms without using PhysX.

<snip>

the total absence of any features in the non-PhysX setup is just because they haven't bothered adding even a scripted something, not because it's not possible to have anything at all.

This.

Those effects are horrible, and filling the screen with chunks doesn't do it any favors. I just got out of a game of NWN2, and the spell effects there are better -- and NWN2 had mediocre graphics for 2006.

"Without PhysX, this would not be possible."

mmmkay... yup, never seen anything like that before...

Needs a 4th setting. "Pre-determined scripted effects which are 90% as good and require 1% of the power"

Rather than Off/PhysX Low/PhysX High.

Personally never did see turbulent effects like this before.

For example effects like this will be also included in Rise of the Triad:

Most PhsyX particle effects look basically the same, this is no exception. I'd like to see them do more than the standard blocky chucks flying everywhere then vanishing for no reason.

the yellow explosive particles are cool, but the others are just unnecessary. trash falling around after every step a mech takes? wtflol.

i would prefer rubble to come off walls and stay there. Rather than chunks of black fly in the air and vanish when touching the floor.

I think what cha mean is, You rather have hairy rubble flowing off walls with TressFX. We all do man. We all do.

I heard amd is going to adapt tressfx to allow forum goers to realistically swing off their nuts.

I dunno, the shiny trails on the mech's forcefield from getting shot on are pretty nice also.

No where near the gameplay defining physics implementation that I'd love to see sooner rather than later, but certainly better than nothing.

I liked the effect on the force field. The partles flying out from every foot step (on metallic ground) was excessive. Been meaning to try this game.

I played it a bit today. It is neat but I feel like it's COD with mechs. The healing process is very frustrating.

Just posting my opinion, since I like added game eye candy and have been known to jump through hoops to get PhysX GPU-Accel working on my Radeon Rig:

I'm getting sick and tired of them removing effects for the sake of marketing PhysX. I get it, PhysX is the cat's meow, kudos, but why do I have to loose simple every day effects like debris (yes, debris, I've played PS1 games where destroying an object/mech created more debris than Hawken) are missing.

I play WoW all the time, they're going to tell me they can add a script particle effect? You kidding me?

Aside that rant, it looks to cheesy. The fire embers wave like water, there is a clear cut off like a wave-form which makes it look artificial and since they recycled the effect for everything (shield, life, fire, even the tower) it looks stale to me. With the power of PhysX I'd hope they can do better. It reminds me of Alice - cool you made her hair move, and she has flowers when she jumps, but WTF - why doesn't water respond to her movement?

/facepalm

Batman: AC is still by far the best looking PhysX game to me.

I laughed.

I'm looking at 650Ti's for my system, PhysX is just something that I as a gamer do not want to have to chose to go without.

Love it, need more of it.
