Scanned from latest Microcenter ad. I'm going there to confirm this. I'll update in the morning.

Scan

Edited:
Confirmed. No haggling at all either. When the cashier rung it up and told me the total, she did a double take at her monitor and scanned it in AGAIN to be sure. lol $.53 total.

The GW pre-order is a CD with the beta version of the game + beta pass key to play on the Beta Event Weekend which happens at the beginning of each month before the full release. GW Weekend Event starts this Friday or Sat supposedly and last till Sunday 12pm (time zone unknown).

Looks to me like that ad is for Guild Wars (normally 99 cents marked down to 49 cents). LII is $39.99 in that ad.

Nope. Not at all. Just think of it as paying .49 to participate in GW Beta. Hehe. Oh, btw. GW Beta event weekend started already, so hop on if you wanna.

one minor thing that disappointed me about WoW is that blizzard seems hell-bent on catering to the entire PC-owning population, no matter how backwards they may be. specifically, i mean the lack of a DVD version of the game. instead, they decided gamers would much rather deal with 4 separate CD's. i mean, i know of nobody today, even my parents, who don't have a DVD-ROM drive. moreover, if you're a gamer, chances are, you have a DVD drive.

WHY CAN'T BLIZZARD SEE THIS?!

big deal, so what if you have to swap out the disc 4 times? (far cry had 5, if you are into counting..) now it's a bit more inconvenient, but that's only during the install. how often do you install a game anyway? and if you store images on the hd for damon tools or alcahol 120% etc, instead of loading that dvd/ cd everytime. your image file would be much smaller wouldn't it? not like you need all the install files on hand to load the game everytime you boot it up.

Just FYI the collectors edition of WoW is in DVD format, the regular edition is in CD format

Good to know Shren! I would think it would be less expensive to produce 1 DVD vs 4 CD's per package anyway!

I actually found a copy of Lineage II this morning at MicroCenter in Mpls. Guild Wars rang up at .49 and Lineage II (DVD edition) rang up at .01.

So I have to pre-order Guild Wars and I get Lineage II for 1 penny, right? My total cost would be $50.00 for both games when GW is released and I go pick it up and pay for it?

Well, it's not realllly a pre-order. It's just a box with beta stuff really. It doesn't reserve you a copy really either as Microcenter never asked me for a name and junk.
