Oh yeah Mcnulty was back!

Edited spoilers out

That sucks

At least The Shield and Rescue Me are coming back in early 2007.

I meant 3 more episodes left in season 4. It will be back for the fifth and final season.

Damn, next season will be the last? That sucks.

My favorite season had the "Greeks" in it. This season is ok but it a little to political for my tastes.

I like the politics, but I think its not as interesting because its been done so many times already and the wire doesn't really bring anything new to that area. Whats great about the show is how real it feels and how we get to see into a world that is foreign to the majority of us. Plus the character development is awesome and the show easily has the most unique and interesting characters on tv.

The politics are growing on me though. Carcetti is an awesome character, if it wasn't for him I'm not sure if I could stomach this season.

Yeah I like Carcetti too and I wonder how long until he sells out his principles for an easy ticket to govenor/etc. But even without him I think the new characters in marlos crew are very interesting, especially snoop. I get a kick out of just trying to understand what the hell she's saying. The school angle is actually the most boring part of the season to me, but its still better than 99% of everything else on tv.

I love The Wire, but I have a problem with Season 4:

NOT ENOUGH MCNULTY. He's good police.

Yeah they've really cut back on his role. Sometimes I wonder if he's still a part of the show?

I'd also like to see more of Daniels.

And next time you guys post in this thread, put a little "dot" at the beginning of each line.

So now that there's either 1 or 2 episodes left (depending on if you watch it in advance on demand) what does everyone think about this season? Not saying that it's bad but I think it might rank at or near the bottom in comparison to the rest of the seasons. That being said I didn't really like Season 2 when I first started watching it then the last few weeks I thought it was great and after rewatching it a couple times it might be my favorite. I think the problem with this season is that it's trying to do too much. There might be too many characters and too many plot lines they're trying to focus on and none really stands out. This season seems like a "jack of all trades, master of none" to use an expression. Don't get me wrong, there's some cool stuff going on but it seems overambitious at times with the amount of material/characters it tries to cover. Each previous season had one major underlying plot line, S1 - Barksdale investigation, S2 - Port case, S3 - Barksdale/Stanfield war....what's the major plot/case for season 4? The bodies in the vacants? I'm also generally pissed about how long it took to (poss spoiler warning if you're way behind in watching) discover the bodies in the vacants. I was expecting them to be found maybe mid-season and a isht storm to come down. They waited till the next to the last and last episodes to find them. I hope The Wire doesn't end up like The Sopranos where they start excessively dragging out plot lines to extend the show.

Anyways...my .02...still my favorite show on tv...just had to vent.

I disagree. The Wire's great because it's not about servicing one particular character or actor. The story comes first. And in this story McNulty is trying to have a regular life, trying to be happy. There's a glimmer in his eye this season, though. Will he come back to detective work? You know he misses it...

HOLY CRAP that was the best episode of this show that I've ever seen!

Every storyline with very significant events!

So much tragedy in one episode...wow. Just wow.

Makes me sad that next week's the finale.

What's the next series on HBO? They have that Tsunami show starting the week after The Wire is over, but I think it's only a two part show.

spoiler warning if you haven't seen the last ep

Damn. So much good stuff crammed into this last episode I wish they had done some of it in earlier episodes. The opening scene with Bubbles damn near had me jumping out of my seat yelling 'Nooo!'. If he didn't make it I was going to be pissed since it would have been so pointless to spend all that time with his character pulling himself out of a hole and then to commit suicide. Come next season I think he's going to have his act together even more and be approaching 'normal' although that might be a little too happy for the Wire so you never know. Glad to see Omar making out like he did but if I was Prop Joe, Cheese or Slim Charles I would have killed him when he came back to the store just on principle. I'm really torn on the Bodie thing. He's been one of my favorite characters since the beginning and it pisses me off that he's dead. Like McNulty said...he's a soldier. Even though he was backed into a tough situation he still crossed the line and was going to snitch which goes against the game. I think Michael and Dookie are going to be the next Avon/Stringer. I think the telling of their story is almost telling a prequel of how Avon and Stringer came up. I think by the end of next season we're going to see Marlo fall and Michael and Dookie as the next kingpins of B-more. As much as there was alot of stuff I didn't like about this season (see above), I still think it's one of, if not the, best show on tv. I thought I heard filming on the next/final season was going to start as early as spring 07 but if anyone has heard about that let me know.

In other news, I'm canceling HBO today until the Sopranos starts. Other than some of the fights, there's nothing really coming up that I plan on watching.

I can see mike as another avon or marlo, but not dookie. I actually used to think Mike & Nay would be more like how Avon & Stringer must have been. Remember how Stringer used to be more brains and didn't want the violence whereas Avon was more about muscle? But then they made Nay into a wuss basically when he got bitch slapped by Mike.

The thing I'm most excited about for next season is having McNulty back! I think hes going to really get into the Marlo case after what happened with Bodie.

Great Episode, disappointed that Bodie is gone. Glad McNulty is finally back but hopefully he won't go back to his old ways. They finally got the bodies but now we have to wait till next year.
I don't see Duquan (dookie) doing much in the street, maybe getting killed. Michael is tough but damn he killed Bodie.

Old faces came back to the show; Vondas the greek from season 2 is back.
Marlo, Chris, Snoop got to go down!

Was it really Mike that killed Bodie? I was unsure because it seemed like Marlo agreed with Chris that Mikes first time should be someone he does not know. And when Marlo visited Mike and asked if he was ready to put in work it was after Bodie was killed.

Yes it was, that is why Marlo gave him the corner Bodie had.

Damn, fvcked up what happened to Randy. That kid is like the quintessential redhead/foster child.

By the way, did anyone noticed that Carcetti's assistence (the tall black guy) walks, talks, and shakes his head like Carcetti? I think they're spending too much time together.

No I just checked hbo's site and it wasn't Michael that killed Bodie. Turns out it was another young kid named O-dog. "Unable to convince Bodie to flee, Poot finally runs for cover, passing a young hooded boy - O-Dog, one of Snoop and Chris's trainees - who creeps up to Bodie and shoots him in the head. Bodie falls to the ground and is finished with a second shot to the head. He lays there dead, as O-Dog jogs off to join his mentors."

I'll have to watch it again. I was sure that Michael killed him, but it could correct. When Michael killed that other guy, Chris told him "always look at them in the eye".

I watched it again but wasn't able to tell since it was dark and they don't really show his face. But just read the hbo official episode summary and it says what i quoted. It also says "Walking up to a crowded drug corner, Michael takes down his first slinger with a gunshot straight to the forehead as Chris and Monk watch from the SUV. When he jumps in the car and they pull off, Chris knowingly tells him, "You can look 'em in the eye now. No matter who he is or what he done - you look 'em in the eye."
