A few episodes might be on HBO VOD during the preview before they run it on the channel.

It'd be smarter of them to re-run the first season and finish it in the entire week or something. I'd like to think that HBO could make more money off of DVD sales than people subscribing for just the Sopranos.

I've never seen the show and wouldn't start watching in what... the 5th or 6th season?

Amen to that! The Wire is why I have HBO. Awesome show, and it taking place here in Maryland is a nice touch. And believe me, the writers do their homework. Everything down to the radio station playing in the car is accurate.

And I'd actually think signing people up as subscribers would make for better profits. You can only sell the DVDs once.. and there are costs like production, marketing, and distributing cutting into that price.

I pay $10/mo for the directv hbo package. There can't be much overhead in granting me access to 7 extra channels on a satelite system I'm already using. And that's a fee I'm willing to keep on paying.

I have HBO and I haven't watched it for more than two months. Just repeats, old movies, and other garbage. Absolutely no new movie to watch.

I agree with you on the movies part, but for me the shows alone are worth the sub price

Sopranos, The Wire, Carnivale, Deadwood, Six Feet Under, Entorage, Rome, etc

There is almost always something good on rotation, and lets not forget Band of Brothers was also an HBO production..

I almost would keep a sub just out of respect for making that. I own the DVD's, but I still end up watching it on re-runs

Come on people...you're forgetting what is in my opinion the best HBO series yes (besides band of brothers).. ROME!

Rome is the sole reason I keep hbo. Now release the season 1 dvd hbo!

I also like Rome, but Season 1 ended in 2005, and I don't think Season 2 starts till 2007. Not really much of an incentive to get HBO is it?

I watched part of the first episode of rome, but then found something else to do and it sat on my pvr collecting dust along with the next few episodes that aired. Most things set in a sub-20th century time don't appeal to me much... future-based crap isn't all that interesting to me either... :/
