technically, Drogon was there guarding the only entrance to get to her (presumably), and he probably would have eaten anyone not Jon, guards included?
Forgot about the dragon. Of course now I recall it did spare Jon after the Queen's passing.

He really doesn't see the future though. He sees the past.
I thought he had a vision of the silhouette of what was kind of assumed to be a dragon and subsequently turned out to be Drogon, flying over KL?

Plus his comment to Thion (spelling?) before he went and got shanked by NK made it seem like he knew he would not make it out alive.

I was oddly at peace with the final episode. Tyrion is one of my favorite literary characters ever, and Dinklage has turned him into one of my favorite show characters. He got his appropriate air time last night and that probably helped a lot. As for specific character arcs and ends of their stories. There's really no ending. Just design space for spin offs/more writing. Whatever. It's done. Until it's not.
Tyrion was my favorite character for the first half of the series. But in the second half he went from brilliant to stupid. He was wrong on just about everything. Even some of his drinking scenes in later seasons were awkward and painful where as his earlier ones were charming and endearing. His final speech where he tries to put Bran on the throne was cringe inducing.

See the video I posted earlier - It's like Tyrion KNEW they were fucking it up (See his comment on putting women + children into crypts), then see the very ending where he gives a very awkward "The story writers did a... good job..."

Plus there was Danny with the most sarcastic "Best Season EVAR!" that made me fall over laughing.

Everyone should have saw this one coming...

Who's ready for the Adventures of Arya spinoff?
It would be SO much better if the Hound had made it. It could have been the "The Arya and the Hound Show". I was saying they needed that all the way back in season 3.

Tyrion and Bronn would be a close second. Maybe King Creepy Wheelchair Guy will send them off on some mission to track down Drogon or whatever.

They can call it "The adventures of the littlest pirate ninja"!

It's the northern border of the civilised world, it makes sense to have a small force there.
I suppose, although technically the Wall and Night’s Watch would now fall under the Queen of the North. There had to have been a better plot device to send Jon north beyond appeasing Grey Worm.

So this is the internet’s best idea of the HONEYCOMB ASS joke Tyrion never gets to finish:

Tyrion walks into a brothel with a honeycomb and a jackass.

Madame: What can we do for you?

Tyrion: I need a woman to lay with, for mine has left me.

Madame: Whatever for? And what's with the honeycomb and the mule?

Tyrion: My woman found a genie in a bottle, and he granted her three wishes. The first was for a house fit for a queen, so he gave her this damn honeycomb. The second wish was that she have the nicest ass in all the land, so he gave her this damn donkey...

Madame: And what about the third wish?

Tyrion: Well... she asked the genie to make my cock hang down past my knee.

Madame: Well that one's not so bad eh?

Tyrion: Not so bad!? I used to be six foot three!

I think it is more about Jon not fitting into the politics of the south, despite being the rightful heir. He doesn't want it, and despite not wanting any of what has been put on him - lord commander of the night's watch and king of the north - he's always had to be someone he doesn't want to be. He could have very easily have been king if he wanted it ... but he didn't. He identifies more with the wildlings than those south of the wall. That's why I'm happy he ended up with with pup master ghost.

Edit: To be clear, I'm not a giant fan of how the show ended overall, but I do really like Jon heading north of the wall with Ghost and the wildlings. He never felt like he belonged, and he didn't give much of a crap after he found out who he actually was. I think Jon's character makes a little bit more sense when you see the Starks as honorable to a fault. Ned got himself killed through what could be seen as stupidity. Jon had little actual experience leading an army in battle, and he committed himself to Dany. I don't think that Jon was ever all that smart. What part of his whole journey did he not blunder his way through?

I assume that is from the books as I can't recall it mentioned in the series. In any event, that would then seem the natural destination for Arya. But it doesn't preclude the world from being flat. The end of it might be west of Esos. It seems an implication given their fairly advanced shipbuilding that someone would have sailed in one direction and come back to where they started by now if the world was spherical.

Essos was the continent to the east of Westeros. Presumably, as this would almost certainly be a spherical globe, if you were to sail west from Westeros you would eventually reach the far eastern shores of Essos.

But yes, it's a bit hokey that in all the time recorded in the histories of that world, not once did someone embark and said West of Westeros journey and make it back to tell the tale. Remember though, like in our own history, it could have been accomplished numerous times, but nobody knew of the proper maps and/or didn't survive for whatever reason.

You know what? As has been pointed out in this thread, they have had thousands of years and made very little in terms of advancement. In fact, things such as forging valyerian steel have been lost. Only the most skilled of smiths can even reforge it. I think it is just best to accept this is a kingdom of idiots.

Well the Valyrian steel forging required dragons, and they had died off for quite a long time. They didn't necessarily forget, they physically couldn't.

And between magic, dragons, frozen undead armies, and what have you, this kind of ends up like a Dark Ages era. Technology and science stops making strides when you kill them all off as heretics or whatever. The warfare seemed to be the only thing where progress was made, which... is quite realistic. The way science and technology go, they make large strides in fits, some major discovery that feeds other discoveries, but sometimes there isn't that singular leap for generations.
Also don't forget about burning down and having to rebuild entire towns/kingdoms -- this likely means libraries go up in flame.

Recall that it seemed like some segments of the GOT world seemed to have made more advancements than others.

And lastly, recall there seem to be actual god(s) in this series - that or the magic is a little unpredictable? The God of Light may very well have held them back at various times.

While it wouldn't be the case here, it could be something like the Dune series, where specific technologies were outlawed after AI nearly wiped out humanity. Now I'm definitely curious whether GRRM ever put some backstory to this concept, whether as part of the main book series or in some side work.

Plus the Ironborn, the pirate guys that live on the sea, live on islands to the west of Westeros. They never once thought of going "that way"?
