While Hordor was sad.. I found myself more concerned about the wolf. I even broke composure and screamed at the TV "Run!". Instead the Wolf charged and died. My sadness at that really took the piss out of Hordor's death.

i thought the "silent 24 clock" type of ending was pretty dramatic to the end of this. my wife and i were kind of silent for like 5 seconds after it ended, taking it all in.

Maybe but perhaps Hodor as Wyllis would've never helped Bran on his journey to the bloodraven, resulting in the death of Bran.

I'm thinking in the next episode (someone has to save the girl and Bran during the chase).

you know I hadn't thought of that. would work, and if it does happen, hopefully they let us know WTF hes been doing for the part 2 years or so

I expected more fight from the wolf, but I guess its just a big wolf, nothing more. If a few people arent afraid of it, it'll die quickly. Kinda like the dragon...when the Harpies stopped running and said f it, the dragon was getting its ass kicked!

Spot on with the Terminator reference, basically this happens ALL THE TIME in fiction that includes time travel. I don't really have a problem with it, especially considering this is a fantasy show after all.

I personally pretty strongly dislike causality loops and I find it pretty annoying that they happen nearly every time time travel is introduced. They're cliche and predictable and can be a lazy way to get out of having actual explanations or consistency in a backstory.

You'd think after Bill & Ted took them to their logical conclusion to highlight how absurd they are they wouldn't be so heavily used. Somehow fans seem to love it though, like how "Blink" is one of the most popular episodes of Dr Who despite the Doctor pretty much admitting none of it makes sense.

The Hodor thing is not a big problem for me given its thematic significance, and it's not making a loop that blatant (eg, an adult Wyllis from a "previous" timeline could have pretty plausibly ended up in similar circumstances). But fans are getting all hyped about Bran being this grand architect that is responsible for all sorts of things in the past and I'm really hoping isn't how things unfold.

I wouldn't like seeing Bran as an architect, either, but right now it seems like the only plausible explanation for keeping this time loop nonsense out and maintaining an honest story world. ....up until what we know now, anyway.

I think it is still fair to assume that this is what GRRM has been planning for all along (he seems he has had all this stuff well-outlined from the beginning), and the denouement could simply be that Bran has been the architect of the Westeros sphere of the Matrix all along and Hodor (maybe Drogon) have been various incarnations of his Neo...or you know, Bran is really the evil architect and the Walkers were created by the good tree nymphs to destroy the matrix (humans) and its architect. ...some Omega Man level stuff.

So, how do you steal a fleet of ships with nobody noticing?

While this doesn't really bother me (realities of budget and all that), I did find it funny how we see a handful of people fleeing with Theon and his sis, then we later see an entire fleet...like, those 10 people are commanding those hundreds of ships? cool. (we know she has her own navy that is loyal, so at least that makes sense).

But here's what gets me--the new King dude is like: "I want all you [uh, like 15 people]" to get to work and cut down all the trees and build me 1000 boats--We will conquer the world!"

Yeah, right bruh--While you're spending the next decade or two building boats with your 15 loyalists, Walkers and Wildlings and Jon Snow will ravage your lands fallow within a fortnight. GL with that.

Were those the last remaining Children of the Forest?

and why weren't there more?
it's been like 1000 years since the white walkers were last seen.

Children of the Forest don't reproduce?

Given that the show is pretty tightly written with few throwaway scenes, why did they show the scene with the guy complaining about warts?

that entire sequence took too long
why did we need to watch that play for 10 min

Yeah, nobody likes grinding. All stuff should be quick.
And afterwards we all should get a few free epix and a free mount.

That scene had a few points.
Maybe too complicated for you.
The whole 60 minutes should be filled with heads rolling and tits flashing. Everything else is a waste of time. (Oh, there were actually heads and tits in that scene. Sorry. Was it still not good enough for you ?)

One point was to show how the rest of the world perceived what happened in Westeros in season 1. Clearly the world thinks that Ned Stark tried to grab the throne, and failed. And Joffrey was a fine king, and it wasn't him who executed Ned. Oh, and Sansa is a crybaby.

Another point was to show that Arya is still not "a girl with no name". She is still a Stark. With heavy feelings about revenge.

In the books, GRRM sometimes tries to picture what the world of ASOIAF is like. What the medieval world was like. Injustice between the upper class and the common folks. He can describe in detail what people are eating. Or what they are wearing. Books 4 and 5 were full of these details. Medieval theatrical plays were one of the very few forms of entertainment in those days. That and sex and getting drunk. This scene was an insight in the world of ASOIAF that we normally don't get.

The scene also was trying to show us who the person is that Arya has to kill. As Arya said: "she seemed a decent person". Very important for her story to understand that the Faceless Men are maybe not the hidden super-hero faction that we had hoped they were. And the Many-Faced God might be just a greedy dick.

But yeah, let's hope for more tits and rolling heads next week.

Plus for free flying at level 100 in Legion. Otherwise stuff would take too long .....

speaking of tit talk, the chick who played sansa in that play had a great rack.

Now we're just piling it on. I'd say it's either the inadvertent Cameronian time-loop contradiction or this topic that have currently dominated discussion of this episode.
