She gets Tyrion imprisoned and sentenced to death with little evidence other than the ravings of her known crazy sister and finding a blonde hair. And she lets Jaime, a valuable war criminal, escape in the hopes that he'll rescue her daughters.
She wants Rob to marry that ugly Walder girl not for love but because it's best for the house. And other things.

Obviously my own personal opinion here, but maybe cause the books just aren't that good? I made it to book 3 (i think) when they were first released and finally just put the series down. And I almost always finish a book once I start it. I wasn't planning on watching the show at all because of my distaste of GRRM. The GF loves the show though, and as I've caught episodes it really is more entertaining than the books ever were.
The show takes what was interesting about the books, and cuts out all the drivel.

I read all of them, and I agree, the books aren't that good. The show is definitely better. But in the same way that Lord of the Rings is a classic, but commits many errors of literature form, GRR Martin does the same thing by spending way too much time on pure fluff.
Don't get me wrong, the books are entertaining and not as bad as Twilight or other trash. I just think the show does a better job of telling the story of these characters.
