I want to watch S1-4 just to see how amazing GoT used to be.

I guess it's easy to promise bunch of crap at start.

I think most of us when considering Melisandre's prophesy think the last one, green eyes, will be Cersei...but...Dani has green eyes too...After last nights episode Im thinking thats a possibility.

Before S8 started, the wife and I rewatched 1-7. Those early seasons are just so good. The dialogue. The scenes setups etc etc.
I LOVED the fact that battles weren't shown (same as in the books). It was never meant to be an action movie and by implying battles (and masterfully done too) it made everything else so much better.

I liked how fantasy elements took a backseat while the show was about brutal medieval politics.

It's understandable the show ends with big CGI but the writing has been garbage.

I think it's safe to call this the worst GoT Episode of all time.

Way too much time spent at Winterfell and all the farewells and fluff. The whole Gendry Arya thing was just akward and a waste of time, same for Tormund, Sam and Bronn. The Dragon shot-down was just ridiculously stupid the way it happened and then the Kings landing scene with 100s of these Dragon killer machinery on the towers was just well really lame and dumb. Same as killing Missandei. Only reason for this scene probably was Tyrion mentioning Cerseis pregnancy which even Euron should be able to do the math.

The absolute worst part however were the Tyrion & Varys scenes. They used to have great conversations full of power talk and plausible deniability, very entertaining. Here? Just pure lame straight talk which they would never ever use especially not Varys. At this point I don't see how a reasonable fullfilling ending can be found. E1 was needed to set the scene for the white walkers fight, E2 big battle was also needed, could have been done better and killing the NK could have been done more plausible but it was somewhat ok. But this E3 was just terrible.

For a book series that distinguished itself for not providing likeable characters with plot armor, I really don’t care for what the has done with Danny and Jon Snow.

Would not surprise me. With how the writers are ripping off anything popular, here is my nightmare take on how it ends.

Danny will be heading back across the sea where people give a crap about her and who she is. The Starks are the hobbits, so they all go back to their old lives in the north. Except for Arya, who will set off for more adventures. Because if anyone gets a spinoff it will be her. Jon will give Gendry the throne since he is Robert's son, and the people of KL will accept him when that becomes common knowledge. Even the north likes and respects him because of his smithing and fighting skills, and the fact he stood with them.

I don't know if any of the Lannisters will make it out alive. Tyrion probably will, but Fonzi is approaching the ski ramp and the shark is ready. You can argue the shark has already been jumped, I won't fight you about it.

I fervently hope none of that is even close.

Scoring repeated hits (including one through the neck) on targets a thousand feet up from a moving ship is nuts. AA gunners during WWII would have loved to have that kind of accuracy.

and the WWII guys had lots of practice. it was the first time for the octopuss dudes.

those were all secondary characters, though. and that was season timing. This is the whole plot timing

Euron shot a moving dragon out of the sky from moving ships from hundreds of feet away. The 12 scorpions on the wall could have ripped that last dragon to shreds as it was sitting there in the background

HBO should have fired D&D after season 6 when it became apparent that they had no interest in writing GOT worthy story material, these condensed seasons points to their lack of knowledge and care.

I pray that GRRM was holding the final book releases back until after the show is done with.

The first third was brilliant actually. For me it was refreshing to see people winding down and celebrating and smiling for once. Being serious non-stop just gets lame like that teen movie Twilight where you're perpetually brooding.

Then this crappy season outdid itself with one of the dragon dying with the perfect accuracy. Are they dragons blind? If they're so god damn fragile, why don't you have scouts sail few miles ahead of you?

Well D&D explained that Qyborn "upgraded" the scorpions - that's why they were more accurate/powerful this episode. Maybe could have just "upgraded" the archers' bows too? I mean why not if we're just explaining away events half-assed.
