...and then he explained that he had to bring it to work to destroy it because he didn't have a shredder at home. You weren't watching?
"You weren't paying attention!"
holy shit not this utter horseshit again.
Of course I noticed that. The explanation was no less hacky than the event to set up that explanation. No paper shredder at home? then burn the fucker in a trashcan outside. derp. Why go to the trouble of demanding no information brought into work, then doing exactly that? No excuse for that retarded explanation.
If this was part of the ruse, it seems elaborately unnecessary. As I mentioned earlier, the plan itself is a bit hacky because it seems drawn out for content. The real issue is that the algorithm is now known and they are officially competing with time. That is a far greater issue than whether or not they should be ignoring this box and designing a software platform under cover. CEO, if he is worth his salt, would realize that now that this knowledge is available to him, no?
If this was all just a clever ruse by Richard to inform CEO of the new reality...then why? I'm perfectly open to being surprised by this, but I'm not some obstinate viewer happily smug in the assumption that everything is flawless and perfectly spelled out to the perfect, obvious end.
The show is about the jokes, nothing more than that. I don't care if the little nuances driving the plot are seamless or hacky. This one seems to be extremely hacky, and I'm fine with that. One is simply pointing it out.
