HD 5000 series cursor corruption on dual monitors

Has anyone found a fix for this problem yet? As far as I can tell this bug has been around for more than six months, and it will always happen if I play the StarCraft 2 beta. I can't believe this bug has been around for this long. I might go back to NVIDIA in a month if the problem isn't fixed.

The only workaround is to use a software mouse pointer (by enabling mouse trails.) Not even disabling and then enabling the card will work. I have to reboot to get a normal cursor back.

The corrupted cursor is only on my main monitor which is connected via a DVI to HDMI converter.

I'm not sure about corrupted mouse cursor but for dual monitor on my 5850 I had to increase the 2d clocks to fix an issue with flickering whenever you moved windows. the 300/157 clocks and low 2d voltage just couldn't handle it.

Is this a confirmed HD5xxx only issue?
I get occasional cursor corruption on my HD4xxx series setup (4850 plus an HD2400 for a third monitor), but I've never paid a huge amount of attention to it because it usually goes away.

The cursor remains corrupted until I reboot, I wish it went away as in your case.

The cursor is unusable for anything that requires precision pointing.

Do you mean the large cursor?


I had issues with my 5870 and dual screens as well. Certain games would distort the mouse cursor and make it huge. I thought for sure it was an ATI issue and was getting quite frustrated.

Turned out thought that it was a firmware issue with my mobo and updating fixed my issue.

This is not the large cursor bug. The cursor is the same size but contains random pixels in its 32x32 or 16x16 square. The cursor is only corrupted on one monitor.

EDIT: This did NOT actually work:
Uninstalling CCC but leaving the drivers seems to have fixed the problem for now. Clearly an ATI bug.

The 10.4 preview driver for BC2 does not fix the bug. It's been more than six months. WTF.

i have this exact same problem and look forward to a fix. didnt pay $400 for my HD5870 and dual monitor setup for buggy drivers. the cursor corruption is annoying and happens randomly on either monitor but mostly after waking up the computer from sleep.
