Is there a reason why you are leaning towards the 5750?

You can get a 4870 for almost exactly the same price that mops the floor with it. Right now, the 5750 is terrible from a value perspective.

Yes, 4870 is a much better buy then 5750, in terms of performance, as long as you can still find it.

From the reviews I've seen, the 5750 uses less power and is puts out less noise than the 4870.

Anyone out there with experience with the 5750?

If you aren't after DX11 (features and/or supposed longevity / future-proofing) and aren't counting on driver updates to significantly improve performance, then you are much better off with the corresponding 48xx counterparts.

The second seems basically the same as the first except it has 10 mhz overclocks on the core and the memory.

Since they're the same price I'd go for the overclocked one, if a 5750 is what you want to buy.

Nevermind. I'll try a different forum, and see if I can get an answer to my question.

Don't you just love it when people just offer their opinions totally ignoring the original question?

For those all saying to get a 4870, not everyone places the same value on specific aspects of a videocard. The 5750 excels at:

1) Power Consumption
2) Noise
2) DirectX 11
3) Smaller Card Design
4) EyeFinity (Granted, for new games it wouldn't really be that great, but it has it)

These features could easily tip the balance to a 5750 over a 4870 depending on the individual.

Anywho. I don't have experience with the 5750 myself, just wanted to chime in and put in my two cents as to why someone might want a 5750 over a 4870.

OP asked which card to get out of two choices, let's take your line of thought that the 5750 is spectacular, best GPU that will ever be created. We are going to take that line of logic and apply it to your strengths for the card-

1) Power Consumption- The top card will be better due to lower clocks
2) Noise- Bottom card will take the nod
3) DX11- What attribute? Performance wise, bottom card
4) Smaller Card Design- Top card is smaller due to the shorter HS/F, both are dual slot
5) Eyefinity- Bottom card will be better due to higher clocks

These features could easily tip the balance to a 5750 over a 4870 depending on the individual.

Which may explain why the first response to the poster was asking for clarification as to why he wanted a 5750. As a generic question, any of them are poor choices. If the OP did have one of the particular concerns you brought up, it would depend on which one was more important to him which of those particular 5750s would be better suited for him. Perhaps the people who frequent the vid card forums are very well versed in all the differences between the available options and due to this we post the best option given the available information along with asking questions that may change those options.

The OP did not offer any qualifier as to why he wanted a 5750, without a particular need it would be rather shameful for the people on this forum to reccomend one to him when we are all well aware of the fact that there are better and cheaper solutions available for most users needs.

I wasn't even aware he asked about two 5750 cards. By the time I came in, the conversation seemed to be about 57xx vs. the 48xx, and I chimed in to weigh in my opinion.

Now that I actually read the OP, I do wish I could have actually tried to answer his question before saying the 48xx is a better deal.

With some reluctance, I decided to revisit my post in the hopes that my parting comment might lead back to my original question. For the record, I did enough research before posting to decide on the 5750 card. And yes, power consumption and noise were two critical parts of my decision-making.

In fact, if you look at my second post, I specifically commented "from the reviews I've seen, the 5750 uses less power and is puts out less noise than the 4870". I thought that was clear - but what I continued to get back was more comments on the 4870.

I appreciate that most folks are trying to be helpful, but I am a little troubled by the comment about "asking questions that may change those options". Many times that is a helpful approach, but I recall instances where the "asking questions" approach is much more of a "this is what you should get" approach. Not to mention the times threads get hijacked into some variation of the ATI vs NiVidia, red vs green debate in which some folks like to engage - and I understand that is not what was happening here.

Ok, now that I have that off my chest.......

I'm considering these Sapphire cards from NewEgg. One of them has reviews, the other doesn't (as it just came out very recently). Does anyone have either of them? Has anyone seen reviews on the second?

In all fairness, if you were looking for a low power, low noise card, you should have just asked that question.
You asked if anyone has or has seen reviews of one of these cards.

We are not mind readers.

Here at Anandtech we all assume you want a best bang for the buck card with reasonable temps and noise.

It's rare that we have someone who just wants a cool and quiet card, and don't care if he's throwing perfomance and money down the drain.

The quick answer to your question is...

Most 5750's are created equal and just buy the cheapest one with the best warrantee, because the cards are still based on a reference design.

I'm not into throwing money or performance down the drain. Based upon my current card and needs, I'm looking to maintain my current performance but with a cooler and quieter card. If I wanted more performance, I would certainly be looking at other options.

I will try to be more specific in the future!

You could still have a look at the 5770. A lot faster and with around same power/noise for not that much.

How about this 5770, just 15$ more that what your looking at.

I ordered one today and I was going to get a 5750 like you but I decided to pony up another 15-20$ to get ~15% more performance with the 5770. looking at recent tests with the 9.11 drivers the 5770 has pulled up even with 4870 in terms of performance. I know the 5770 cost more cash than the 48XX card but I'm building for the future just like this guy probibly is, not all of us upgrade every 6 months so a Direct X 11 is important to me for the extra cash. I'm sure I'm going to be happy with going from a A64/X800 to a PII925/5770 combo.
