Just bought the Asus HD 6970 2 Gb Direct CU II (going Eyefinity), and installed on my Asus P8P67, but the PC won´t boot, I get 1 beep + 3 more - "VGA not recognized".

PSU is a TX 650 Corsair, and when I move the card to another PCI slot (x 4) the PC boots, but of course the performance is not acceptable with 3 screens, got 10 FPS with 1 screen!

I´ve Googled, and more people have this problem, also with other boards, but none of the various suggestions is of any help.

I flashed to the new 1608 BIOS, no change...

Contacted Asus, waiting, waiting...

Any suggestions, please?

Oh BTW, people have this problem also with 850 W PSU´s...

hmm so, there are more people than you who have "this" problem?

what kind of hardware do you have? motherboard, ram, what system (os), and why does it boot up with your graphics card in the 4x slot and not the 16x slot?

do you have a 1x slot and a 8x slot aswell? try those?

What other cards have you plugged into your pci/e connections?

Did you connect both 8pin power connectors?

How many harddrives does your system have etc?

And link us to a few others having the "same" problem as you, could help with the troubleshooting

Me: If I knew I would not be posting here, Sherlock!!!

Yes I did connect both 8 pins from the PSU to the crappy, pos Asus card....

Thanks, but I´m wasting my time here... Bye.

I guess a welcome to the forum and possibly good bye at the same time is in order. ???

Other than maybe taking a look at the contacts on the video card for damage and possibly cleaning them to make sure it's got good contact the only other thing I can think of is taking a look down in the slot. Possibly some dust or something in there keeping the card from fully seating. It's possible the card is defective. Do you have another card to test the slot on the MB?

It's called troubleshooting. What did you want from us? A pity party?

I tried and did not find the results in google. I guess we should blame google since there is only one permutation of searches for this issue?

I don't find anything funny in this thread.
I checked out the TH link, imo, its a m/b bios problem, with the particular bios on that video card clashing with the m/b bios. These things happen. Usually the vendors work out these bugs initially or in the first bios updates. Even more noteworthy is both the m/b and the video card being Asus products.
To troubleshoot this I would try a different video card in the primary slot that is not working currently with the Asus card that DOES function in the x4 slot. I would also try resetting alll bios settings to default, no matter the setting. Also try a different output to the one using prior, dvi, hdmi, though that should not matter, especially with the m/b giving error beeps.

You really need to improve your reading comprehension skills if you took offense to the line of questioning. That, and cut back on the caffeine.
