HD causes case to hum

Hi,
I have a Antec case and a Wd 250G sata HD. There is a loud hummming noise produced by the HD. The case has rubber mounts for the HD but still get this loud hum. Can anyone help me to reduce this or make it quiet?

I'd buy a second drive and mirror that WD before it's too late...

The HD is new and quiet if I don't attach it to the brackets.
Its a silent pc if I let the HD just hang. Naturally I want to secure the HD, but there is some kind of transfer of vibraton to the case with it mounted.

If the mounting strips are rubber, then the cage itself may not be secured. What case do you have? Does the HDD rack use screws or bolts? If the rack is dismembered, consider getting a zalman hdd silencer. You can find them for $20 or so shipped.

I had the same thing, I got a zalman HDD silencer. Then I found this and wish that I got it instead of the zalman since the heatpipes on the zalman are overkill IMO, I mean come on it has 3x more heatpipes than my CPU cooler does

Very strange indeed.

I started with two 300GB Maxtors for data and one WD250 as systemdrive in an Antec P150. The two Maxtors hummed like hell. When I put my finger on them I could also feel the vibration and it wasn't good vibrations. How's that with your WD? The WD should not have that problem, mine doesn't. I guess the Maxtors suffered from a misalignment of sorts, send them back to the store and got OK new ones. Perhaps you can do that too. I could have invested in HDD silencing, but I think it is best to work at the source of all evil.
