hd woes

Price seem never seem to come down much like cpu, and ram. For 120gb, after a year, only a 20 bucks drop in price and anything higher in capacity is still overly inflated like a balloon. won't be buying hd for at least another 3 years down the road or until my all my hd dies. This really suck as I am so fond of hd and would buy more if they were cheaper.

Don't know where you've been, but hard drives are a big bargain.
Spend the dough, the economy needs it.

The price of todays hard drives is an incredible bargin. I don't think that about $1.00 per gB is a bad price at all. That's why I have over 600GB of storage between my computer and file server. I'll likely be getting another 200GB drive for some WD Special Edition RAID lovin' too.

You must be on the East Coast, but even there you should have seen a more significant price drop. Hard drive prices West Coast are great, for example: seven weeks ago at Fry's Electronics I got a retail Western Digital WD2000JB (200gig 8meg cache, 7200rpm, 3 year warranty) hard drive with Promise TX-2 48-bit LBA controller for $180 after rebate. I saw the exact same drive, again at Fry's for $160 after rebate about two weeks ago. Heck, a year ago I don't even think any IDE drives were available with a capacity over 120gig.
