Can't wait till the other vendors get theirs out to market. Looking to see what Visiontek, MSI, and Asus models look like!

What a kick-ass card and simply unreal that it requires no additional power.

well the card is good for the money and has plenty of perks for for oem comps.

also the 4670 will beat the 3850 even more with higher settings and AA in most of the benchmarks I have seen. overall the 9600gt is easily a better card but its much larger and needs external power. if you have a decent power supply and case then the 9600gt is a no brainier especially since they can be found for under $100. other than that the 4670 appears to be a much better card for the money than a 3850.

When you say "no brainer" I assume your meaning from a gaming standpoint? What about if HD playback is your main concern and gaming at 1366x768 (720p tv) is secondary? I would take a small hit in gaming performance if I can get a card that is silent or near silent and it looks like I could get the 4670 with the S1 for the same price as the 9600gt assuming a few small rebates appear on it within the next month.

Look absolute perfect for those on strict budgets

those who can't afford much more than a 1280x1024 or 1440x900 monitor (the low bandwidth won't hurt them)

budget systems whether build it yourself or retail that might not have a CPU to push anything much faster and/or a PSU safely powerful enough - simply plug it in and no need to worry about an external power connector

just like with the 3650s, I'm excited to see how soon we can see rebates/sales (and for how much) on these already fairly priced 46xx cards.

I wouldn't be surprised to see these cards going for ~$50-60 with some special hot deals.

So, this card will best my 2006-era eVGA 7900GT?

Dual Slot cooler seems over-kill / useless for such cool running GPU.
yeah the 4670 is about the coolest running card you can buy so that is silly. also spending more money at this price point defeats the purpose of the card.

just because it runs cool doesn't mean it runs quiet, going to dual slot would would allow quieter operation

however I'd agree, paying more seems silly to me - I'd rather pay less for a stock reference and then add on my own aftermarket cooling if I felt that noise was a problem

I still wouldn't bite too early because I'm convinced we'll start to see rebates or at least some reasonably priced versions with quiet(er) (if not passive/silent) cooling solutions

well pretty much every review has said the stock fan is basically silent. yeah Im holding off to see where the prices settle in a week or two. hopefully Best Buy will have these in stock soon and they normally have a sale on Visiontek cards every few weeks.

Haven't heard any overclocking info about this card yet, maybe the dual slot cooler will help out in that regard.

My HTPC (AMD 4400+/7600GT/Hauppauge 1250) cannot handle OTA HD decoding at all (stuttering video and sound), so would getting this card help or do I need new CPU also?

The entire 4000 series included UVD2, so I would think it would help a lot, but others may know more.

When can we expect to see mobile Radeon 4000 solutions from AMD? My Dothan based notebook needs replacement.

Or those of us with 1280x1024 LCDs and smallish power supplies.

This is the card I have been waiting for.
Newegg wants list price plus $8 shipping for the thing though.

HMm, this might just be the card for me to upgrade my x1950 pro

Anyone know how much this would trounce my x1950pro?

Looking at Toms VGA Charts in Oblivion:

1) x1950Pro = 26.2FPS

2) 3850 = 52.6FPS

3) 3870 = 61.80FPS

The new 4670 falls between an ATI 3850 and 3870 in performance so.....I'd say it's a huge upgrade over your x1950 card.

Sweet. I'm going to wait a week or two and see if inventory / price / cooling options expand/change, etc and pounce on the next deal I see.

This is a great card it seems for 1280x1024 gaming (me) and low power requirements. I'm blown away at how power efficient it is.

Same here, i'm thinking of picking one up for an HTPC, but i want to wait to see what the other vendors cooling solutions will be and see if the prices drop as well. Great looking cards though i have to say!

Well that'd be something for me to see for myself as I have owned several single slot heatsink/fans and none of them have been quiet enough for me. Perhaps they're silent relative to the rest of the noisy fans any reviewer is making a claim of silence for, but that is probably not good enough for me. Another draw back for single slot fans is that they're usually higher pitched/whinier which can usually still provide an annoying presence over otherwise loud ambient noise.

Besides, if these these really do run as cool as the reviews say, then it certainly shouldn't be hard to passively cool them.

I was waiting for this card. Saw a EVGA 9600GT SSC for $114 before a $60 MIR so I bought that. I know the nvidia card is faster but I might return it (30 day return policy) as I don't game that much (bought it cause the price was excellent). Mostly internet use and just like buying computer related stuff on sale .

Seems like most reviews have the 4670 about 20 watts less at idle (vs the 9600GT) and slightly over 20 watts less at peak. I like this as I leave me pc on all the time and the performance is fairly close to the 9600gt. When I see one for $60 or less I will probably buy it.

What does UVD2 improve on vs the 1st version?

the fan I have on my EVGA 8600GT is the stock reference one and its dead silent. I had a 7600gt for ONE day before that noisy thing drove me crazy so I exchanged it for the 8600gt.

I'm in love with this card!

Let me explain--my two rigs at home right now are an HTPC and a Shuttle SFF. I've shied away from building larger rigs in favor of smaller, simpler, quieter machines. As such, I have unique power constraints and noise requirements in choosing a graphics card. I've stuck with a 7600gs for the past few years, mainly because it is fanless (silent) and works well with a 250 watt power supply.

The 4670 is a great budget part, but its' performance is even greater when judged on a performance-per-watt basis. I'm surprised Anandtech didn't explore this further. Perhaps they're saving that analysis for a review of the mobile part? Anyway, most 4670 boards based on the reference design use a very small fan and don't even have a PCIe power connector. They are also on a shorter PCB, so it should fit perfectly in an xpc or other SFF chassis. I'm hoping that we'll see fanless "silent" versions from vendors soon.

I'll bet Asus will release a nice Fanless version of this card as they seem to really be on top of the silent computing market.

Here is a picture of the Asus version, not passive (yet) but I bet that cooler is mightly quiet. I like the HDMI out without having to use an adapter... I think this will be the version I get.

well i took the plunge and ordered one with an e5200 to replace the gaming rig i have been using at a friends house today, the monitor i use there is only 1240x1024 so this card is possibly the best bang for the buck at that resolution siche the 6600GT came out. the rig im putting together is noted in the CPU/overclocking forums. my order should probably arive on tuesday sometime
