My Opinion is that an Opteron 180 at stock speeds is incapable of playing Age of Conan at widescreen resolutions comfortably even with a relatively nice SLI setup. Period. However, at 4:3 it is a far better experience than a Core 2 Duo at 16:10 with a faster single GPU with more bandwidth available ( 192 vs 256 ). The SLI even out performs the C2D/3850 at 4:3 for what its worth. However, the C2D/HD3850 still can provide very nice performance at 16:10 even though you have to turn down some sliders and pretty much any AA. Well, you can do 2xAA perfectly fine for outside of cities but in cities its a pain.
I'd say that is a pretty good anecdotal experience to look at. It shows me that if someone is hell bent on keeping their old 939 chip they could still game at 4:3 at 12x10 and still reap the rewards of modern gpu's to compensate for their platform's short comings. However, if they have a greedy eye on a 22" + they need to realize that some games are going to perform poorly.
