Remember that magical time where we had the 2nd best graphics card? () (not counting dual GPU stuff). So whos still on a 5850? Whats your plans?

I was gonna jump on the HD7xxx series but i might just skip it, maybe skip kepler as well. Im waiting for 2x the performance for a lowass price keeping similar power consumption/noise to the 5850. My 5850 hasent actually struggled with anything yet, best GPU ive ever owned come to think of it.

I'm in the 5850 club! Still deals with everything I need it to do, but I've got 2 in CrossFire, which may help HD7xxx series hasn't seemed particularly magical so far to be honest so might wait for HD8xxx before taking the plunge. My previous GPU before the 5850s was the venerable (and generally awful) HD2900XT, so maybe 3 generations is the right number for me.

Alternatively, I might be upgrading to an Eyefinity 3x1920x1200 setup, which would require an upgrade and quite possibly a promotion/pay rise

Can I play? I have 2x 5830s on my 2500k that I got for a total of $200 with 2 Digital TV tuners.

I have to say I feel the urge to upgrade, but also have a bit of trepidation.

I'm still in the 4850 club... on a 2500k. It's begging to be driven harder by a better GPU.

Well i kinda understand where you come from, but the 7970 looks so good that i decided to get it. My 5870 was the best for a while and it even kept up against newer cards such as GTX480/570, HD6970/6950.

I'm still running my 5850 and most likely will for awhile as I just can't get into gaming anymore.

Mine has a full water block on it and is clocked to 1000/1300 @1.163v's but idles for the most part.

My biggest use for mine currently is to somewhat monitor my water temps during my overclocking adventures. I figure it's 99% at idle during my stress testing so I kinda use the core temp to see how much my water temp is increasing during extended stress testing.

I've still got mine. It's doing well, but getting a little tight. The processor definitly has to do with it though. I'm waiting for Ivy anyway, and I plan to act on the GPU at about the same time. I hope for a lot or development in the next few months!

I just upgraded to a 7970, but my 5850 is working in the second PCI-E slot bit mining.

I've long since moved on to newer cards, but I still have my 5850, mostly for its ability to be silent as it was the last GPU I could mod an Accelero S1 to fit.

5850 here, I play BF3 on medium all day with no problems.

I'm on the fence as to join the 7970 bandwagon?

I still have 2x 5850's in CF but will be replacing them with 7950's in March. Did have 3 but one has already been replaced with a 7970.

Never taken any of them past the CCC limits in nearly 2 years, not really had any need to.

What's up?

Still CPU limited by my Q6600. No need to upgrade til the whole system goes.

Same here.

Playing BF3 1080p@High makes the 5850 sweat but it's still smooth. Dunno where those awful fps in all reviews for the 5850 come, mine never goes down 35 fps and is in the 4x range with 5x peaks most of time.

Hell of a good card the 5850...it's worked reliably with no issues since purchase.
I'm looking forward to the HD7950 as a replacement,generally I skip a generation between cards(and CPUs).
I'd rate the HD5850 along side my old X1900XT as equal favorite AMD cards so far.

I almost got a 5850, but decided on a 5770 - POS was screwy from the start. Replaced the 5770 with a 6850, which is kind of a 5850, but gimped. The 6850 handles everything at/near high at my 24" LCD's native res, so no plans to change. Probably no need to do anything with computer until new consoles come out.

I got a 5850. I won't upgrade anything for another year and by that time I will need an entirely new computer.

Hoping for something along the lines of an eyefinity setup if that technology is still relevant.

Still got mine, and remember when the 2nd best GPU from AMD/ATI only cost $250? Boy those were the days! Must have been like 10-12 years ago or something. Oh wait.....

Definitely one of the best value cards. Massive overclocking. Runs at 1ghz core 1300mem all day and benchmarks almost double of the 4870 1gb it replaces. Don't see the need to upgrade yet. Still plays BF3 average over 60fps on high HBAO.

me too! now running 910/1100 because Skyrim wasn't stable and produced artifacts at higher speeds. but i'm still hanging on, might get a used 69X0 from someone upgrading to 79X0 in the future if the price is right.

I still use my 5850. My monitor is 1600x1200, so the 5850 (stock) chugs through BF3 on high just fine. I don't see a need to upgrade, its still works very well for my needs.
