I just upgraded my video card with the recent XFX HD 6870 deal from newegg. I have a Dell 3007 that I had connected to my old card along with my X1 video projector. After banging my head and searching I discovered that since the 6870 only has one dual-link DVI I cannot plug both monitors in at the same time (I can plug the 3007 in the single-link DVI but my resolution drops) (Apparently the DVI-> VGA converter requires a dual-link?). The reason I upgraded was that I wanted to connect a 3rd monitor (Dell 2407) but I can't get my original 2 to work.
How do I solve my problem (I'm considering moving back to my old gtx460 and selling this) short of getting new monitors with display port interfaces?
I was looking at a minidisplayport-> vga adapter at monoprice http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10428&cs_id=1042802&p_id=5107&seq=1&format=2 but I'm not sure if a need an active adapter.
I thought of a minidisplayport->active dual-link dvi to connect to the 3007 but they are pretty expensive (~$90?) and I'm not sure if they would work.
Also, when I tried to connect my pj through my receiver via HDMI the dual-link display goes blank as soon as I turn on my receiver :|. (And I think the receiver doesn't down sample the HDMI signal to component). I couldn't get the HD audio to work either but I think I figured that part out (I need to install the realtech HDMI audio driver).
Sorry for the long winded post. So is there an easy way to solve my problem or should I just go back to the gtx460 and forget about the 3rd monitor?
