so i'm wondering how partitions relate to hdd platters. more specifically, lets say i have a 200gb hdd with 2 100gb platters in it, would there be any benefit to creating 2 100gb partitions? a friend of mine said he noticed a difference in doing so and that moving data between the partitions was like moving data between two separate hdds (usually faster).
does anyone have any experience with this? i'm afraid that either this might not be true or that even if it might be, windows format tool might (or format/partition programs in general) not be able to effectively create partitions per platters.
