HDMI and Overscan

Hi all,
I purchased a 7.5m (i think it's AWG30) hdmi cable today. I connected it to Radeon HD4350.
1st:
The resolution was 1920x1080 but screen didn't show full. So i googled it and found the fix: using "overscan" option in Ati CCC. I just wonder if this situation is normal. Using this setting affects picture quality?
2nd:
I don't think my new hdmi cable is very quality. But i don't see a difference in picture quality in comparison with the old short dvi cable. If it transmits the signal then is it ok? Or can there be quality loss or any other problems which i haven't noticed yet?

Is it the same display as the one you were using with your DVI cable? If so, why did you change? Were you getting overscan with the DVI cable? If not it is possible your display is not set for 1:1 mode with HDMI (or does not have that option), you might have to switch back to your DVI cable.

Yes, it is the same display. It's Benq E2420HD, native 1080p. I didn't get any problems with dvi related to full screen problem and didn't need to use overscan. I put the pc case into another room so i needed a longer cable and i bought hdmi.
I'm thinking of returning hdmi cable and buying a dvi cable same lenght.

There should be no difference. Just use the overscan option in CCC and set it to 0.
The cable quality makes no difference if you aren't seeing sparkles or other signs of signal degradation. If you are then you need a shorter or better quality cable.
