Ok here the story. I got some sound problem not following the image displaying on my television with HDMI.

When i hook up directly my stereo 4.1 system to my blu ray player, the sound is perfect, but the image seem to be a split second behind. To make it more ridiculous, even the sound itself of the television is delayed! compared to the sound.

If i hook up my stereo system to my television , well both sound of television and stereo will be identical, but there will be the split second delay between sound and image display.

What can it be? The HDMI cable i got is a DYnex cable bought at futureshop( 29$ cable ), can that be the problem??? When i use my Component cable ( the 5 wire one blue-green-two red and a white ..sorry always mix them up with composite... ) well my sound problem is gone...same as my great image quality

Can purchasing a better quality HDMI cable fix my problem????

thanks if you can help!

I used to have this problem with a really cheap-o dvd player and receiver. If I remember, it was okay in bitstream but not pcm digital output, but I could be wrong, it was a long time ago.

To clarify though, the sound is fine when you use analog out, but not when you use digital out?

Ok update on the situation:

I have purchase another low cost hdmi cable ( a phillips ) and it does the same thing.

I got a samsung blu ray player and i have tried what you said, either pcm or bitstream doesnt change anything. My stereo system is a , as you said, cheapo inspire 4.1 surrround system, but its doing e very good job for the sound. When i plug this system ( with the red and white plaug to my audio) to the blu ray player. Sound is fine, but if my television sound is turn up, well my tv sound is delay vs the stereo system. If i plug the stereo system to my television directly, both sounds ( tv and stereo) are going together, but there is the same delay that i was having only with the tv before.

I can live with of having to turn off my tv speakers to listen movies, but it suck i cannot use my stereo system on my tv for other stuff like my cable tv , because my stereo is plug now directly to my blu ray player.

I am very temp to try a expensive, monster cable, just for fun...but got a feeling it will be a waste of time and money.

It will definitely be a waste of money. The cable isn't the problem - it could be a setting on your surround sound, or your TV, or just a delay from having your TV process and output sound (again, there *may* be a setting to help with this).

What if you send analog sound (red/white) from the Bluray player to the TV, and hook the stereo to the TV?

This is almost certainly an issue with your TV, and has nothing to do with the cable. Essentially, what's happening is that your TV is doing some processing on the Blu-Ray image (what, I do not know) coming in over HDMI and this is delaying the image by some number of frames. You need to examine what settings you've got on that particular input.

FWIW, this is one of the problems that HDMI 1.3 solves with the lip-sync feature.

Here is my set up that will explain how i am connect when i experience lag.

Stereo system>>>>>>>>> To TV audio with analog sound
Blu ray >>>>>>> to Tv image and audio with HDMI.

I dont understand how i can connect two male audio with the hdmi image. I got my analog female open on m blu ray player, but where do i put my audio on my television since my stereo system already use the analog audio of the television? I dont think i can use any other audio entry on my television ( like video 1, 2 or 3 ), but again correct me if im wrong.

Im going to try that two, will give ya my response

Thanks for trying to help me out.I am a bit dissapointed. So much money invest ona tv and i got some little problems.

Ok well i just try that and there is no way i can plug my sound from my blu ray to tv when my stereo is already plug to the tv.

One big question, if i buy coaxial cable (digital audio), will that buypass HDMI sound from my blu ray player ? ( both of my blu ray and tv got these jacks, and im wondering if i will get betetr sound by linking my tv to my blu ray with coaxial.

There are plenty of TVs which aren't HDMI 1.3 - the overwhelming majority, including yours. However, for lip-sync, you'd not only need an HDMI 1.3 TV, but you'd only need an HDMI 1.3 receiver/pre-pro as well.

Like I said, you'd be better off examining your TV's inputs to see if there isn't some sort of processing you could turn off to lessen the video lag.
