HDMI Cables?

Alright, this question has probably been asked since time immemorial, but what HDMI cables does everyone use? I know stuff like Monster (and almost everything else Best Buy and other retailers attempt to peddle) is insanely overpriced, but I think quality--to an extent, of course--must make some kind of difference? To this end, I stumbled across ECore. They offer different lines of cables (varying in length and component quality) for different usage scenarios--a definite plus, one would think, over one-size-fits-all cables like AmazonBasics or Monoprice.

Before I take the plunge and buy one for my MacBook Pro (using a miniDP-HDMI adapter), I'd be interested to hear what you guys think/recommend. Thanks much!

Their website doesn't have a store, you have to go to another website to purchase them. $7 shipping? No thanks.

I think the standard reply is that a digital signal is a digital signal is a digital signal. Quality can vary among analog cables, but not digital cables that transmit 1s and 0s.

Monoprice has great cables, though if you have Prime Amazon is the best choice.

HDMI being digital means if it works, it works. Another's cable won't provide a clearer signal than anothers. However, thicker HDMI cables (lower gauge) will allow you to run longer cable lengths (prevent signal loss). standard user with 6ft or 10ft requirement can use any hdmi cable.

For most people any HDMI cable will work. I try to get ones that have a company mark of some kind on the cable rather than just plain cables . Plain cables sometimes have avoided the HDMI certs and can cause problems. Doesn't need to be a big name brand, but at least a company I can google.

Another vote for monoprice. I use everything from their really short 1.5 foot cables (28ga) all the way up to a lengthy 35 foot run (22ga). It was a bit wary about the long run, especially since at one point the cable must come within a foot of about 25 romex wires that supply power to my house from two 200amp boxes. But I haven't had any problems at all (I hate to think what a Monster version of that cable would cost).

You can never go wrong with Monoprice and their prices... Or branded cables if they are reasonably priced. Above all make sure they are HDMI Certified or sourced from HDMI Adopters or you may have issues with HDCP and handshakes...

I started to have problems with the monoprice 50 foot runs and ended up by an amplified cable at that point. Anything under 50 feet they always worked well.

Could never fathom a 50 ft run haha, but if I ever do, I'll stay away from Monoprice.

All: Thanks for your input. I fall in the "average user category," so still debating between Amazon (I do have Prime already) and those ECore ones, although that supposed $7 for shipping (dunno how I didn't see that before) might swing me towards Amazon...
