DVI has 2 functions. single and dual link.
DVI-I, single link has lower capable resolution.
DVI-D has a max of 4k resolution, and doesnt carriy out sound. can do 120-144hz sometimes
so it depends what you are using the connections for, and what resolution/hz your monitor is.
