Looking for a good bang for the buck television. I would prefer a non plasma. Projection is ok as I have plenty of room. I have been reading up on some LCDs but there is a lot to know so I thought I would seek your opinion.

I would prefer a widescreen television 37" seems like a good size. I am going to hookup the television to a computer that has a satellite tuner (there is no box) so im not sure if i need a tuner installed or not. It is going to be in the living room so i really need good brightness.

Thanks for helping me out I have been trying to research the subject for a while but there is a lot of information to sift through and it seems difficult to find a quality screen at this price level.

Man if you could stretch that a little you can find the old gen (still excellent) 720p 42" Samsung DLP with QAM tuner for $900. That's what I would go with especially since you have the room. If you won't do that I would wait a little while, LCD prices still haven't hit rock bottom and hopefully soon the 1080p panels will start dropping more.

Is the Westinghouse tv special only online or can be purchased in-store? What are the approximate shipping costs?

What cables do you guys recommend for running the Westy with a PC:

1) DVI to DVI or
2) DVI (graphics) to HDMI (Westy)?

Does it really matter for picture quality?

Well I thought DVI and HDMI is the same thing except that HDMI can carry digitial audio as well. So if that is true I don't think the picture quality will be affected.

I really like my 50" DLP, but the bigger DLPs I've seen look kinda funny to me. Sometimes I can see like distorted colors. I dont know how to explain it. Like a rainbow I guess. Seems to be more pronounced as the size gets bigger.

Anyone else noticed that?

Regular DLP is kinda crap IMO. We've had a 52" Toshiba DLP for 18 months now, and it's got dubious quality control. The TV has become very dark over the last 6 months, even though the bulb is on high brightness and it's been calibrated properly. The colour wheel makes a grinding noise upon startup (18 months of fairly heavy use). Fortunately our TV is under warranty and the technician placed a new light engine, bulb and colour wheel on order for us.

Still, I wouldn't go down the DLP path with much lower maintenance options (like LCD) out there. The new LED DLP's are nice because they do away with the bulb and colour wheels.
