He pulls a gun on you... would you have killed him?

I don't think I could have, I would do my best to get him arrested though.

Good lesson for the thugs out there. You never know who your "victim" is, or what they're going to do.

As for killing him? No shots were fired and the shopkeeper was quick to disarm the robber. Really, this couldn't have gone better. Meth and prescription drugs are becoming a major problem in these small communities though. People used to huffing gasoline have now found the good stuff. I think a lot of these rural sheriffs really don't know how to handle it.

The goal should be to end the threat. That's what he did. No reason to kill.

Store worker did the right thing. The police should capture the dude soon.

I doubt I would have, but I wouldn't blame someone who did. If the guy just whips his hand back up a little faster than you can react, or turns around a minute or two after leaving and fires through the door, or comes back a day later (assuming he isn't arrested quickly), he could still kill you. If you kill him right then and there, any problems the two of you might have any time in the future are over. It seems harsh, but the second someone tries something like that I don't care about them anymore.

The store clerk handled that like a pro though. Apparently the whole thing didn't even really faze him that much. He made the superior moral decision ultimately in addition to being a total badass in the moment. Kudos to him.

Nah, not there, not in the store. Walk him outside and then shoot him, that way you can just hose the blood off the concrete.

Heck of a draw. Would have been a perfectly legal good shoot. Very dangerous to let him leave with a weapon still in his hand. Clerk got lucky bad guy didn't shoot.

Love the bad guy's reaction when he realizes what's pushing against his mouth.

I'd have taken the more practical route and ended the dude. I care very little for the lives of those who make trouble for others, so crooks should not expect me to make an effort to spare their lives when they put mine at risk.

Yes, because some people can't let things alone, and will ruminate about getting their ass handed to them or being made to look like a biotch until they decide to get revenge. Someone is pulling a gun on you, NEVER just think "Hey when I show him mine, he's gonna pee his pants and walk away." Well, I mean, its fine if YOU want to die that way but don't use it as an example of what I should do in the same situation.

"Missouri liquor store clerk shuts down armed gunman"

as opposed to an unarmed gunman?

I don't know. Would have been better to take him off the streets, but at the same time, someone else might've come for revenge.

Good lord, insanely fast recognition, plus hand deflection of the other weapon, plus draw.

Love how the store owner handled it.

“I was like, ‘Holy s--t,’” Dawson said. “That’s awesome.”

Nope. Employee prevented the thugs weapon from being pointed at him and the thug thought better of proceeding with his plans. If the gun continues to rise do what you need to do.

Thanks for writing all that out, now I don't have to.

...No shots were fired and the shopkeeper was quick to disarm the robber. ..

I don't think he disarmed the guy. Just told him to GTFO. In a video the guy talks about he went to the back of the store to get behind a thick wall he'd built specifically to act as cover...just in case the guy decided to shoot into the store.

I can't really come down on the shopkeeper, but it would have been nice if he'd have made the guy drop the gun and get on the ground until police arrived. Would have been a shame if he'd walked out the door and carjacked the next lady he saw.

Would I have shot him? Don't know. All sorts of details come into play instantly. The shop keeper recognized the guy was drunk or high. And he was able to hold the perp's gun hand down before the barrel came up.
I think many people are hesitant to shoot someone, even if they have a legal right. At that moment it doesn't look like the shopkeeper thought his life was in imminent danger.

That's pretty fucking awesome, but there is no reason to shoot the guy in the face.

It depends on the person. For that guy, I wouldn't shoot. Just a mutual understanding of "I assume since you didn't just shoot me dead from the parking lot and I didn't shoot you dead in the face that we best just not shoot each other."

Some people just can't work like that and if he seemed more like the type to come back and get revenge then there are some odds in there I would have shot back immediately. So, it depends on the person. For that particular person I would have done the same as the image. I think he just wanted money.
