Very lame. If every coach who lost to the Patriots in the playoffs got fired, there would be very few coaches left.

Cept Shotty never beats anybody in the playoffs.

yeah I agree they should've fired him a while ago. Not only be able to promote Cam Cameron but also have opportunity at other guys. Like Whinehurst if they wanted to go in that direction.

Dang, sucks for Marty. They were the best team this season though, and you can't blame it all on marty, but you gotta look at his playoff record.

Good point. They should have kept Cameron. Now what the f are the Chargers going to do!?!?

I bet they hire Mariuchi!

That's all you need to know.

He's known around the leage as the guy who can't get it done come the post season.

Same thing they said about Cowher... Until he won.
Same thing they said about Manning... Until he won.
Same thing they said about Elway... Until he won.
Etc... etc...

Marty is a good coach. Period. (IIRC) In 22 seasons as a head coach he has 20 winning seasons. Hard to let a guy like that go.

There is no doubt this is correct ... how ironic that rumor had it he was the odds-on favorite to get the job if Marty got the axe too, although I have to say that Wade Phillips is a lot better defensive coordinater then head coach & as a Giants fan it made me happy seeing the Cow-pie's hire him!

Well Charger fans ... its really going to be a fun off-season now huh?

Maybe they look to the college ranks for some one like Stoops, Carroll or Saban (just throw money at him and he might )

They'd better not hire Carroll! But I don't think they can pull him away. That would just be a losing situation for every party involved in that.

They should look to hire a NFL coordinator as the head coach and then maybe check colleges for the assistants.

I think Marty has just had bad luck in the playoffs. He coaches well all year long. How is his coaching going to change that much in the playoffs?

Damn, we should have held out. (Dallas) Although I guess Wade leaving was the final nail in the coffin for Marty. I'm not a fan of Wade as our HC. I've always liked Marty though.

Tom Moore has said numerous times he will not leave the Colts. He has something special in Peyton Manning. And doesn't want to give that up.

Bill Cowher is still under contract with the Steelers. And he doesn't look like he wants to give up his vacation from football.

Ron Rivera just resigned with the Bears. Jim Mora Jr, went to the Seahawks as an assistant.

Jimmy Johnson I dunno, I'm sure over the years owners have tried to pull him back into the NFL but he seems content being in the booth.

I think Marty is the exception here. Like you said, he's been doing this 22 years. Not 1 Super Bowl appearance.

By comparison, Cowher went to the Super Bowl in his 4th year as a coach, finally winning it 11 years later. Manning finally got there in his 9th year, and won it the first time he got there. Elway also got there in his 4th, 5th and 7th years, before finally winning it back to back in the late 90's, etc, etc.

Everybody now wants a nice, compassionate, caring, Christian coach. Atleast that's all I've heard during and after the Super Bowl.

biggest irony of all is, he lost this year BECAUSE he didn't play marty ball.

the biggest criticism of Marty Ball was that it was too conservative, too much run and not enough run.

if he had played Marty Ball the entire second half of that game vs NE, they would have won for sure.

instead, he left it up entirely to his Offensive Coordinator, who was such a fool that L Tomlinson almost never got the ball in the second half. how STUPID was that.
