KS-75 / 35 here, I have tried too many headphones within the price range of $ 60 and then was blown away by the KS-75 WOW, I bought 3 more + a KS-35 and kept them sealed, those should be a life supply of good ass headphones

Excellent headphones which share drivers with the comfy sportapros and portapros. I have to wonder about your purchase of multiple for " a life supply" as these headphones have lifetime warranties. On two occasion, damage that was a result of cheap plastic and one because I accidently broke the ear clips were expediently covered by Koss for only shipping and handling! Gotta love Koss!

But does the lifetime warranty cover accidents / loss and what not ? Exactly.

Never the less is an excellent earbud - definitely isolate noise better than the Headbanger.

If I'm travelling in an airplane, or if I want to tune-out and listen to classical music, I'd use the Shure. The other 90% of the time, I go with Headbanger.

perhaps I could experiment a wee bit at that price. what did you particularly like about its sonic signature? what type of music do you normally listen to?

For those who have the PSP, how do these sound? And do the PSP versions, do they sound different than the universal?

Are your 590's amplified? If so what is supplying them power?

I run HD 580 Pro's here, and amplify them with a Custom Apheared 47 setup (powered by two NJR4556). Needless to say, the lows are insane and the highs are crystal for the price.

They sound good. There is a slight hiss but no biggie. I highly recommend the PSP ones over the univeral. The PSP gets it's power from the psp instead of the universals power pack.

But PSP one's don't work on anything else. I bought the Universal's from Amazon despite my local Gamestop having the PSP one's. I got a PSP, an iPod, and I want to use this for computer games too.

I don't have the iPod ones, I just know that there are 3 different versions of these Ear Subs and you either get the PSP one (psp only), iPod one (iPod only), or the Universal ones (works on both, plus anything else with a plugin [requires 2 AAA though, unlike the others which are powered by the hardware]).

Same reason why I bought the Universal ones as well. I was going to go with the PSP ones but then it dawned on me I couldnt use them on anything else if I wanted to. So now I got the Uni's and couldnt be happier. The pack doesnt weight that much, I dont go out running around , and it comes with a clip so if I did go running its no biggie (well no biggie for me because I cant go running anymore ).

If you want good headphones, try Sennheiser or AKG.
If you want the best, try Ebay for some STAX ELECTROSTATIC headphones.
I don't think they make them anymore, maybe japanese distribution only.

Has anyone compared the KS-75 or 35's to the Headbanger?
I'm just looking for something to listen to at work that's better than the el cheap $5 earbuds I use (that I keep having to buy more foam for them from Radio Shack). I don't listen to rap and don't like a lot of boomy muddy bass. But I do want more bass than what I get now. ie. I usually put one 8" sub in my trucks.

I currently own both the Universal Ear Subs and iPod Ear Subs, and have been very pleased with both products.

Well the bass isnt muddy and for normal music it does a great job. I would really say if you like the way the 8" sub sounds you would be pleased with what I put up in the op. For rap it hits thoes really deep low notes without mudding it up but in regular music, I been listening to Cat Stevens, megadeth, Shaggy, some classical, and others and it does a wonderful job without over powering the bass at all. Does a wonderful job with everything I have thrown at it. Again you have to hear them to believe it and would put shame to thoes crappy $5 ones your using

You know with all these people coming in this thread and talking on how these great $50 and up headphones sound how about some of you with the money to buy these high fdollar ones spend the lousy $20 and give a idea on your thoughts. I mean if you have that kind of income for them $20 shouldnt be a problem right? And its funny how they are mentioning apples to oranges here.

I am mentioning $20 cheapo that suprisingly sounds good for people with little money to spend but want the most for it and keep seeing people that hve high dollar units coming in here mentioning high dollar stuff. Really if I had the money and for the people who bought these if we had the money or felt the need to spend more we would but from what I have heard in my lifetime up to now I havent had anything that I have owned or friends have owned or I have gone to the store and listened to that had made me go DAMN that sounds tits and they were how much??????

Here's some Sennheiser's for less than $20, okay? And anyway, I bought my Stax in the '80's for $150, which I don't think is that much for a top of the line product.
Once you hear electrostatic headphones you may be spoiled to hear anything less.

I own a similar pair of turtle beach noise cancelling headphones, once again powered by two AAA batteries. That's pretty much the trick, they're powered headphones whereas most are limited to the power a headphone jack can provide. The noise cancelling aspect is really poor, just barely muffling outside noise and not handling wave type noise well (say blowing wind), but at the same time it also boosts the volume of whatever you're listening too so it works out well. Would be great for using while running...except the little pack with the two AAA batteries in it weighs it down too much. Maybe if you had a shirt pocket. (of course, you'd also need a light weight flash drive to use while running) BTW, my Turtle Beach headphones were $30, and I use them almost exclusively as my headphones. Definetely better than the typical el cheapo earbuds, and much more bareable than full sized headphones.

My college roommate has headphones for some Creative thing that plug into a little dongle, I'd imagine they're a bit more powered and better quality, though obviously not portable.

Found some more info for you on Stax headphones:
http://www.audiocubes.com/category/Head...uct/Stax_SRS-2020_Basic_System_II.html
Stax SRS-2020 Basic System II-Price: $479.00USD

Eric Miron - 09/22/2005
"This system is incredible! I have long wanted to listen to and own some sort of electrostatic speaker and not until now, has anything been available at this price point. My previous reference headphone system was the Sennheiser HD-600/Musical Fidelity X-can amp combo. Which until now, was the best sound I had heard..period. I wouldn't say these completely blow that combo away in every aspect, but overall these do sound significantly better in many respects. The detail retreival and transparency is just stunning!"

These are really nice, similar to what I have. Even better:
Stax SR-007 (OmegaII) with SRM-007t Amplifier-Price: $2,999.00USD

Hopefully you're running those with a sound card that cost at least a few hundred dollars as well...

I think the point people are trying to make is not end up buying a bunch of crappy $20 headphones and just get one wellknown, critically acclaimed set..

these are not it.

These are endorsed by FunBoy, when they are endorsed by head-fi.. I'll listen.

What's the difference in the sound if you use the universal in your ipod? Did you notice any background hiss in either pair?
