Heading to Greenville, SC

Sonikku is packing her bags and leaving the frozen hell of Northern NY for the first time in ages. I leave Monday for two weeks! Now the question is what to do. How many of you are acquainted with Greenville and Spartanburg and what are some interesting activities to do and places to see?

Just stay in Greenville, so many good places to eat.

Almost any restaurant downtown will take good care of you. Reedy Falls Park or whatever is nice, some good breweries (I'd check out Birds Fly South), can't comment on nightlife type stuff.

Check out downtown Hendersonville and Asheville. They're just across the NC border. Charming little historic down towns. Ashville is pretty famous for it's food scene, especially small/micro breweries. Asheville is considered by many to be the San Francisco of the East coast (although waay smaller). Artists communities, music, trendy stores and all kinds of restaurants for it's size.

Check out nearby mountains (state and national parks), waterfalls and hiking tails.

Be easier to make recommendations if you told us what you were interested in and how far you're willing to drive to see other places/things.

Also, it be cold here at that time.

I wish. A friend of my mother's offered to put me up for two weeks as a sort of quasi vacation. Last time I was there I saw blue man group and hit the little theater.

I second the side trip to Asheville, for the reasons mentioned. We visited friends there in 07. Take a drive up the Blue Ridge Parkway, it is spectacular.

Asheville is pretty damn fun (I live there) so if you've got 2 full weeks I'd definitely take some time to check it out. I've been meaning to get down to Greenville though. I've heard only good things so no matter what you should have a nice little vacation.

I'll third this. I've lived a few hours from the Greenville area for the past 5 years or so. I would definitely make the day / side trip to Asheville and the blue ridge parkway.
