Headphone comparison

A couple of weeks ago I wasted $30 on a pair of crappy headphones and I should have known better. Anyway I am looking to upgrade to either the Sony MDR-7506 or the AKG K240S (Studio) headphones... I'm not a pro or even amateur mixer, I just want excellent sound while I listen to music (mostly soundtracks) at work. I have heard many different opinions about these 2 models, but no direct comparisons, and I'm still unsure on which to buy. If I could get some opinions on these 2 models it would really help me out... thanks. I'm interested in Bass and Clarity if that helps. Comfort is secondary. Thanks again.</FONT>

For me, comfort is NOT secondary. I bought some Grado SR60's and didn't use them much, partly because they aren't too comfortable. Well, I bought the MDR-7506, and they are more comfortable. I got these a couple of months ago but so far still don't use them much. I'm just real busy. Anyway, I did a lot of research on them and I don't think you will be disappointed with those. There are just SOOOOOOO many satisfied customers. At work I too needed headphones but it was as much to keep the noise out of my head as to listen to music. The work I did often required that I be isolated from office chatter. For that I got expensive Etymotics ER4S earbuds, which not only sound great, they block out ambient sounds to a tremendous extent. However, they are $269. Now, I telecommute so I don't need headphones.

I got the Sony's for about $95 shipped. I use the Etymotics in the gym and elsewhere - anywhere I go portable, and I love them to the max.

I recommend a set of Bose TriPorts...

no experience with the triports but reading the reviews on the net seems they are over priced for the sound quality you get with them.
