Headphone holders

I know there are lots of possibilities, but I'm looking for an easily obtained, attractive solution for certain scenarios.

a) hanging off the lip of a desk. Some sort of clamp or balancing stand
b) hanging off the flat leg of a desk, vertical mounting.

The Sennheiser holder does both pretty well, but I'm wondering if I could do better - especially as it's not that elegant, as effective as it may be. I also seem to have got a fake or bad one recently. I bought another one to use at the office, but as I was tightening up the screw to stop the stand slipping on the desk leg, it cracked and sent the stand - and the headphone held - crashing onto the floor.

What would you guys call the last word in desk-mountable headphone holders?

The cheapest thing you could probably get is a banana hanger. Here's a pic of someone using one as a headphone holder:

Kind of a coincidence as that is the same headphone which went crashing thanks to the broken Sennheiser.

A few problems with the banana hanger hacks I see very often:

- I have no idea what it is about our bananas which should be different, but I've never been able to track down a banana hanger here which could remotely double as a headphone hanger. Apparently us lot prefer banana hammocks.

- I don't want anything which takes up room on the desk itself. I also don't want to make permanent alterations to the desk.

- And the banana hanger / coathook designs I've seen may work well with Stax, Audio-Technicas, etc - i.e. 'suspended' headphones - but not those such as the Beyerdynamics, Sennheisers, etc (heavy phones with a single cushioned headband). A hanger-syle would in fact work for the SR-007 at the office, but it wouldn't work well for e.g. the Tesla 1 or the MMX 300 as it would end up deforming the headband cushion.

An upside-down, vertical/horizontal-clamp version of 0roo0roo's eggxpert link would be the best sort of solution...?

"I don't want anything which takes up room on the desk itself. "

Here is, for example's sake, the Sennheiser holder in vertical clamp mode in action, shot from below.

I'm looking for something which, if possible, does a better and better-looking job in horizontal and vertical clamping arrangement.

interesting holder

ebay failed to deliver, but that store has em.

not too bad considering the alternative ones costmore and are less than optimally shaped for padded bands

one solution to the hard flat surface holders is putting a section of foam pipe insulation over them.

in the homedepot pipe section. comes in a rubbery type foam which is nicer than the cheap plastic type foam as well.

Hmmm...Nothing that appealing so far. Actually the cushioned DIY ones are quite appealing, but the DIY is the problem.

I guess there's no easy answers to a better solution than the Sennheiser then? Should I give up and order a couple more?

the senn does seem to be the cheapest easiest solution..and with decent width to not crush the headband.

some of the diy are hilarious

So as a coda, I ordered more Senn stands from a local seller and these worked without snapping.

What is the world (or more specifically, China) coming to when you can apparently buy a fake of an already-cheap lump of plastic and vinyl?
