Only if ahole companies keep copying apples stupid "courage" bullcrap. There is zero benefit in ditching the headphone jack. I don't care what bs dac is in the USB connector. Is this an important feature to you? What is the future of the headphone jack on phones? Is it going the way of the dodo bird?

The note 9 has a headphone jack and a larger battery. Whomever told you we took the jack out to accommodate a larger battery is full of crap.so a larger battery is zero benefit?

its common sense the space doesnt come out of no where. The Note9 could have been smaller if it didnt have the headphone jack. So sacrifice size or battery size same thing to me.
There's phones out there with a jack and 12000mA batteries.so a larger battery is zero benefit?
Bt audio is still immature. Not enough power to headphones, sound quality, latency. If you are in the 'it sounds good enough to me' camp then Yay you. Us knowledgeable folk who like the best sound possible will continue to use the headphone jack.So here in 2018 we cant just cut the cord and enjoy untethered Bluetooth? The only time I ever need a hp jack is to use next radio, which uses the phones for an antenna, and I still listen on BT. The technology is so cheap, not sure what the big deal is.
No doubt people will tell me...

If you actually look inside a Note 9 you'd see how removing the headphone jack would have allowed for zero battery growth/phone shrinking. If you can live without any USB, Headphone, Vibration etc then yea, they could have put a bigger battery in/made the phone smaller.
The headphone jack is the least of it: the Note 9 houses a stylus, and yet has a larger battery than any iPhone or Pixel. People were straight up lied to if they were told that removing the headphone jack had a damn thing to do with increasing the battery size in these phones. The Pixel prior to 3 didn't even have IP68 water resistance that Samsung's phones with SD, headphone jacks and sPen cavities have always managed. The note 9 has a headphone jack and a larger battery. Whomever told you we took the jack out to accommodate a larger battery is full of crap.
Maybe so, but as a not-totally-unknowlegable audiophile myself, when I want high fidelity (term dates me I know) I go to my home's audio system. Digital music in general is a step down from analog imho but if you are in the "sounds good enough to me" camp then knock yourself out. Phone audio is about convenience, not fidelity, no matter how much you invest in earbuds.Bt audio is still immature. Not enough power to headphones, sound quality, latency. Yours was a silly snark bringing up your home audio system in a discussion about phone headphone jacks.QUOTE "Yeah because we all lug our home stereo setups with us wherever we go instead of use the nearly 1TB audio/video system in our pockets."
Now you're just being perverse. Of course you're not taking your home system on the road, and that's my point exactly. It's about convenience. But my critics are talking like they're discriminating audiophiles (and I'm sure they are), and to that cause they'd rather be tethered within 3 feet of a device to achieve a slightly higher degree of fidelity. I don't know, maybe they spend their days in a chair, but I have a job, I work out, I recreate. I do housework. Do any of that with wires to your head and I personally just don't find it practical or comfortable.
And the bottom line? As has been stated previously, if it sounds good enough to you, I support everyone's right to do it their way.

These 'arguments' against a function being needlessly taken from your device for no benefit whatever to yourself just get stranger and stranger. The 'bigger battery'= HASN'T HAPPENED. Apple's in partcular are smaller than ever. You could use your lousy bluetooth or whatever headphones before, and still can with a good phone with a headphone jack. More features- most of the no-headphone jack phones had LESS features up until their latest models.
NONE the arguments actually panned out. It was just to save some money, and have you buying dongles. At least own up to it and stop acting like it was everyone else who fell for a scam.
The XR battery is over 50% larger than the 6S, at least get the facts right in your angry rants.
Also, why would I care about $9 for a dongle? Just buy AAPL and you'll make hundreds of times that back like the rest of us.
